JOB DESCRIPTION COUNSELOR

❖ KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Makes appropriate referrals and connects applicants with resources for information, community support, and advocacy.

**Collaborates with other Coro programs to enrich program delivery and fulfill our mission more effectively.**

Shows cultural understanding while working with indigenous families and the communities.

**Maintains client records and client files in keeping with the program manual and other policies.**

Support the mission, vision and values of Coro including participating in organizational-wide initiatives as interested or asked.

**Collaborates with the Program Manager to develop and establish standards and accountability mechanisms including logic models, monitoring frameworks and evaluation processes including the completion of the program(s) reports, and stat collection maintenance of relevant documents.**

Participation in staff development opportunities and professional exchanges with other service providers.

**Ensures that the program participates in interagency liaison and community coordination on violence against women.**

Effective team management skills, including problem-solving and conflictresolution abilities.

**Proven ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including companies, government organizations, community organizations, etc.**

Staying focused on goals to ensure desired outcomes.

**Ability to stay calm, think clearly and give guidance in a crisis.**

In collaboration with the Team creates a learning environment for students and volunteers.

**Ensures effective service delivery consistent with agency mandate, and policy, meeting all legal, contractual financial and other compliance requirements.**

Supports ongoing compliance with accreditation standards and new program standards.

**Stays current with Coro programs.**

May be requested to assist with other duties to aid with the efficient operation of the organization.

❖ Qualifications and skills required:
- **MSW (Master of Social Work) or equivalent degree.**

Post or secondary degree/diploma/special certified course in counselling or psychology-related experience in a relevant field or the equivalent in education and experience.

Unflinching commitment to gender equality and women’s rights.

**Ability to put aside personal biases and religious/cultural/social/economic upbringing/values when working with survivors of violence.**

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

**Ability to manage change and diversity.**

Enthusiasm for community engagement and networking.

**Strong sense of empathy, and negotiation and persuasion skills.**

Sound values and work ethics.

**Willingness to travel within Mumbai and its environs.**

Solid understanding of the dynamics of Gender-Based Violence and the systemic nature of violence against marginalized people.

**Experience working effectively and in a non-judgmental manner with respondents from different cultures, ethnicity, and socio-economic backgrounds.**

Experience with program planning and report writing.

**A trauma-informed practice approach.**

Knowledge of culturally competent practices.

**Experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset. ** Ability to work flexible hours. **Good working knowledge of the system (Police/Court/hospital) as relevant to the work and asset.**

Proven ability to work collaboratively across programs and with community partners. **Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office/PowerPoint/Excel etc.**

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

**Successful results of criminal records check.**

Strong knowledge of Coro’s programs and services.

**Strong communication skills in Hindi/Marathi**

**❖ Working Conditions: - ** This position may work alone, one-to-one with families or individuals, with little to no supervision.

**Location: Chembur, Mumbai**

No of Post: 01 FEAMLE / 01 (MALE)

**Remuneration range - 25000-38500 (Salary will depend on prior experience and suitability for the role.)**
