**OT TECHNOLOGIST**

Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and
the neighboring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The
hospital is governed by a charitable trust - Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with
well-trained professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical
equipment. The hospital was designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm from North America. It is
located on 13 acres of land at New Town in Kolkata, West Bengal. The hospital is an integrated Oncology facility

The Hospital, with a capacity of 437 beds, serves all sections of the society, with 75% of the infrastructure
earmarked for subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. It provides a wide spectrum of services from
diagnosis and therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support. The Institution’s objective is to excel in service,
education and research.

**Job description**:
1. To be adequately conversant with the Operative procedures and techniques in the OT

2. To check the name, diagnosis, surgical procedure planned, and side of surgery, and record them on the

display board in the OT.

3. To adequately understand the surgical technique planned, with the necessary instrumentation required,

including specialised equipment.

4. Understand any special position required for surgery, taking care of any special patient protections and

supplementary supports, and restraints required.

5. Be conversant with anaesthetic techniques and positions.

6. Need to understand OT trolley lay out, instrument name and use, providing those that are appropriate for

the surgery.

7. Be adequately trained in OT layout, position, placement of lights, and ergonomics of assisting for the

efficient, safe and comfortable execution of the procedure.

8. To be aware of and prepared of adverse events such as haemorrhage, hypotension anaphylaxis etc. And

respond to the urgency appropriately as guided.

9. Have adequate training in instrument handling, and care of specialised equipments such as scopes,

monitors, displays, microscopes.

10. See that the patient is transported following all safety protocols.

11..Be responsive to the immediate supervisor, following instructions of recording, tissue transfer to Lab for

processing with correct and proper labelling.

**Essential Qualification: B.Sc (OT)** or equivalent from a recognized University.
