**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Billing Process**: Process outpatient billing claims accurately and efficiently, following established procedures and guidelines.
- **Medical Coding**: Assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes, CPT procedure codes, and HCPCS codes to outpatient services and procedures.
- **Insurance Verification**: Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for outpatient services, obtaining necessary authorizations and pre-certifications as required.
- **Claim Submission**: Prepare and submit outpatient billing claims to insurance companies, government payers, and other third-party payers in a timely manner.
- **Reimbursement Management**: Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims, resolving billing discrepancies and appeals to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- **Patient Billing**: Generate patient statements for outstanding balances, answer patient inquiries regarding billing issues, and assist with payment arrangements and financial counseling as needed.
- **Compliance**: Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as payer policies and guidelines, related to outpatient billing and coding practices.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate and complete records of billing transactions, including patient demographics, insurance information, and billing codes.
- **Revenue Cycle Optimization**: Identify opportunities to improve revenue cycle processes and workflows, implementing best practices to streamline billing operations and optimize revenue capture.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with healthcare providers, clinical staff, and administrative personnel to address billing-related issues and ensure accurate documentation of patient encounters.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of one year of experience in outpatient billing or related healthcare billing roles.
- Proficiency in medical coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding conventions.
- Knowledge of insurance claims processing procedures and reimbursement methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to analyze complex billing data and identify discrepancies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) preferred but not required.
