As a volunteer Special Constable, you will be fully warranted after attestation. You will be required to make difficult decisions every day and have empathy, common sense, and compassion, as well as a desire to make a difference. It’s challenging, but hugely rewarding - and no two days are the same.
Being a special constable, means investigating crimes, dealing with violence or public order incidents, helping to find missing persons, attending the scenes of road traffic collisions and many other incidents that regular officers are involved in.
Whatever you do as a special, you will helping victims of crime and the vulnerable and helping to keep Wiltshire one of the safest places to live in.
If you feel that you have what it takes to be a special constable, you can give up at least 16 hours a month and would like to give back to your community doing what must be the most rewarding volunteer role there is, then please apply.

You will need Level 2 in Maths and English (GCSE graded 9-4/A*-C or equivalent) before you start the training. Please go to the Gov.UK website to find out what the different entry level qualifications mean.
You will have to attend mandatory 20-week initial training period which will consist of a combination of evenings and weekends. Each week may vary therefore, you will be informed of these dates before your start date. You will also be required to carry out self-studies throughout the week alongside your training schedule.
