Parenting is an extensive role. Therefore, can be neither time restriction nor can the duties be listed down exhaustively. Dorm parents being “role model” need to continually go through the process of self analysis self motivation and growth. Dorm Parents’ duties include, but are not limited to the following:
**Primary responsibilities**:
- Taking care of students’ pastoral care
- Dorm Parent shall be addressing the day-to-day needs of children. It includes assistance in academics and co-curricular activities, resolve behavioural challenges and support them for mental wellbeing.
- Work with children on a one-to-one basis or in small or large groups, as required acting as a listener; encourager; motivator and role model.
- Induct students into hostel life and conduct transition activities cum bonding exercise for those students who are moving to hostel from different geographic and cultural context
- Closely work with Hostel superintendent in formulating and implementing strategies to support pupils in self-esteem and confidence-building activities;
- Support pupils to resolve a range of issues that are creating barriers to learning and other activities in the hostel;
- Draw up action plans to ensure the all-round development of child.
- Monitor the academic and co-curricular performance of each child document the same in the prescribed format.
- Attend PTM at school prepare result analysis and share with child and parent
- Meet parents and visit parents at home, if required to discuss issues and problems, and running group sessions and workshops for parents at school; ensure to communicate with the parents about the academic progress of their wards once in 3 months.
- Support hostel in organizing and running extracurricular activities, such as sports, music on holidays or as the annual action plan.
- Regularly meet with tutors and the administrative department to troubleshoot the academic and logístical challenges of the hostel
- Maintain the addresses and telephone numbers of students parents and local guardian to contact in case of emergency
- Oversee safety of all furniture, property and other items in the hostel especially dorms where their wards reside.
**Daily Duties**:
- Check and report dorm cleanliness and maintenance to Superintendent (change of bed sheet etc)
- Plan activity for weekend
- Maintain medical, academic, and personal file
- Accompany a child to hospital, follow up medicine and diet on time.
- Supervise self reliance activity.
- Ensure that the child free time is used effectively.
- Provide material for academic and personal requirement.
- Overall supervision, safety and security of students
- Inculcating healthy and disciplined positive behaviour among all students, take attendance of students before leaving for school, after their arrival to hostel and at the end of the day.
- Supervising the dining hall, taking food along with students to cultivate good table manners among them.
- Bring and take students in time to study classes
- Ensure cleanliness and tidiness among the boarders regarding haircut and nail cut
- Check every night for health problems if any
Salary Rs. 30,000 per month gross
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
