As a
_Principal Product Security Architect_, you will be part of a motivated engineering team responsible for ensuring that Qualys products are built to the highest levels of security, with a focus on Linux and Windows products. This is a senior role for persons who work well in cross-functional teams, at product-led SaaS companies, supporting the achievement of security outcomes through the SDLC with Developers, Testers, and Product Managers.

About Product Security at Qualys

The Product Security team operates differently from most security teams. It is our mission to enable continuous improvement across the lifecycle of our product portfolio, so that Qualys can ensure the highest standards of verifiable security, trust, and compliance. Our function is to build a secure SDLC, upholding quality management objectives, and ensure predictable outcomes. We find and resolve problems early, working in-line with development. This allows us to reduce friction, increase release velocity, all while keeping security front of mind. Product Security enables engineers to solve the right problems in productive ways by changing what we work on, who we work with, and how we work.

To be clear, we write code.

The charter of this team is to reduce the arrival rate of vulnerabilities, the average age of vulnerabilities, and the escape of vulnerabilities into production. We do this by delivering paved pathways and trustworthy dependencies, conducting threat modeling, and by driving adoption of Qualys Security Standards across the development and engineering organization. This role will embed in our engineering teams, and lead efforts to prevent issues from becoming incidents.

**Responsibilities**:
The Principal Product Security Architect will:
- Lead and continuously improve security architectures, security design reviews, threat modeling, security retrospectives, and the development of the backlog of security/evil user stories- Engage in-line with Development and Quality Assurance functions to ensure fast feedback, reduced rework, and increase adoption of security capabilities and the velocity of releases- Support engineering teams with technical controls to harden Linux and Windows implementations- Write and maintain code resulting in security patterns and practices, components, libraries, and dependencies that increase the security of the product- Deliver excellent written and verbal communications, using accepted industry standards, that translate security requirements into engineering and product work items-
- Increase the adoption of security scanning and self-service capabilities, data-driven decision-making, and the security exceptions for a targeted portfolio of products- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver widely impactful security initiatives

**Qualifications**:
- You have personally and successfully led this work before at your current or prior employer- 7-years of overall software security experience at product-led companies- 5-years of hands-on-keyboard Linux and Windows security experience- 3-years of hands-on-keyboard software development experience focused on Java, C/C++, PHP, Python, and/or Golang- Significant experience in DevSecOps capabilities, test-driven development, client-side software, and microservice architectures
