**Job Title: Restaurant Storekeeper**

**Job Summary**:
The restaurant storekeeper is responsible for managing the inventory of food, beverages, and supplies to support the operational needs of the restaurant. They oversee the receipt, storage, and issuance of goods, ensuring proper handling and adherence to food safety standards. The storekeeper maintains accurate inventory records, monitors stock levels, and coordinates with vendors to replenish supplies as needed.

**Responsibilities**:

- Receive deliveries of food, beverages, and supplies from vendors and verify the accuracy of quantities and quality.
- Inspect perishable items for freshness and ensure proper storage according to food safety guidelines.
- Organize and stock inventory items in designated storage areas, maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
- Monitor inventory levels of kitchen ingredients, cooking supplies, tableware, and other items used in restaurant operations.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to forecast ingredient needs and ensure timely replenishment to prevent shortages.
- Prepare requisitions for food and beverage orders based on menu requirements and anticipated demand.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions using restaurant management software or manual logs.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and records.
- Rotate stock to minimize waste and ensure the use of oldest items first (first in, first out - FIFO).
- Work closely with the purchasing department to review vendor contracts, negotiate prices, and place orders.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers to address any issues with deliveries or product quality.
- Assist in the preparation of food and beverage orders for kitchen and bar staff as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper storage and handling of perishable items.
- Train and supervise junior storekeeping staff, providing guidance on inventory management practices and procedures.
- Assist in the development of inventory control policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in inventory management, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling perishable items.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina to lift and move boxes and supplies.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certification in food safety or hospitality management.
- Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems for inventory tracking.
- Knowledge of culinary terminology and ingredient specifications.
- Familiarity with local suppliers and vendors in the restaurant industry.
