Microbiologist

Analyze, supervise and manage all Laboratory Department activities.
- Plan, prepare and supervise all laboratory services relating to standards and organization’s policies
- Responsible to maintain laboratory records, reports and files.
- Manage purchase of laboratory equipment, reagents and other requirements.
- Monitor calibration and Annual Maintenance agreement of machines
- Dressing should be neat and clean
- Treat the customer well, communicate with the customers politely
- Ensure the correct functioning of the department.
- Check proper working of reagent kits.
- Check the test procedures randomly.
- Verify the test results and sign the same.
- Identify and classify microorganisms found in specimens collected.
- Collect sample from OT, OPD (corneal scraping) and LAB and do the procedure as per request.
- Maintain the microbiology register properly and enter details of patient and result in prescribed format.
- Prepare sufficient quantity of media for the OT sterilization.
- Maintain properly, OT sterilization register.
- Involve in Education Department for taking classes for B.Sc. Optometry students.
- Check EMR to recognized patients test and inform the patients about the test amount
- Enter the bill in EMR and give the two copies of bill to patients for payment and re-collect one copy of paid bill from patients/bystanders.
- Enter the details of patient as per the format in the register
- Enter the results in the register and EMR and give printout of result to the patient after verification
- Send the result through mail/WhatsApp if required
- Inform the results to the concerned doctor.
- Display turnaround time for all laboratory tests.
- Critical test if any has to report to the concerned doctor. Take a second opinion from outside laboratory before giving the result and maintain the confidentiality of the same.
- Do the programming of new kits in the machine
- Periodically check the registers
- Check the daily, weekly, monthly stock of items.
- Check the expiry date of reagents
- Place purchase order for required lab items.
- Give order of the required items to the purchase department.
- Prepare GRN after receiving the ordered items.
- Handover nearest expiry items to purchase department.
- Schedule the duty of lab staff, approve the leave, and arrange the duty in case of leave of any staff.
- If lab technician is on leave, the supervisor has to take over the duties of technician.
- Supervise the posting students’ duties.
- Schedule and conduct weekly department meetings and make a report on target status and present the same in the meeting.
- Verify monthly stock report.
- Prepare monthly report for special tests sent to outside lab and cross verify all the bills before forwarding to the accounts department.
- Verify the store requisition and indent form and counter sign those request.
- Enter the complaints if any in the task manager system.
- Responsible for solving complaints and inform top level management.
- Prepare doctor wise lab procedure payment report every month and submit to BM.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual marketing schedule for the department.
- Work to achieve the monthly target of the department and in case if it is not achieved, meet concerned doctors for guidance.
- Support the management in their strategies for target achievement.
- Check and monitor the display boards outside the lab and also check the monthly updates in website for the laboratory marketing tools.
- Checklist should be kept updated daily
- Take up the duties what assigned by the BM or HR from time to time.
