**Essential Job Functions**:
Principle Responsibilities:

- Analyze borrowers credit profile, collateral and capacity to repay the proposed mortgage obligation
- Perform thorough analysis of applicant's income and expense data, self-employment documentation, credit reports, and property valuations in order to affirm borrower qualifies for loan
- Accurately calculate borrowers income and debt-to-income ratios
- Quick with taking decisions on the credit worthiness of the borrower based on underwriting guidelines
- Responsible for identifying various Mortgage loan documents and index them in sixty plus pre-defined categories
- Intelligent data capture from source documents as per defined business rules
- Order services which includes but not limited to Appraisal, Flood Determination Certificate, VOD/VOR/VOM as required, Tax transcripts, SSA-89, Home insurance, Prelim report
- Review and update information in Loan Originating System (LOS) as per submission documents
- Update information in LOS if discrepancy exists
- Perform compliance check
- Notify Client Processing team on completion

Other Responsibilities:

- Meeting goals as per the defined key result areas
- Maintaining a track of daily processed transactions and reporting on a timely and accurate manner to Process Supervisor / Team lead
- Appearing and qualifying all periodic process assessments with defined benchmark scores
- Adherence to process SLA’s
- Best practice sharing
- Help in cascading process updates

Information security related roles responsibilities:

- Implement and act in accordance with the organization’s information security policy
- Protect assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification destruction or interference
- Execute particular security processes or activities as may be assigned by the superior
- Be accountable and responsible for actions taken
- Report breach of security events or other security risks to the organization

**Qualifications**:
Desired Skills and Experience
- 3 years of US underwriting experience with knowledge of FHA, VA and conventional Mortgage underwriting in bank or mortgage company environment
- Should possess in depth knowledge of critical documents used for a mortgage transaction such as appraisal report, title commitment, all types of income documents including personal and business tax returns
- Thorough knowledge of the required credit criteria of the assigned loan products and channel of business
- Excellent written communication skills with proper grammar, able to summarize crisp and clear requirements
- Good computer skills particularly with Excel and Word
- Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities
- Expert knowledge of Desktop Underwriter (DU) & Loan Prospector (LP)
- Extensive knowledge of all mortgage loan documentation
- Categorical understanding of the mortgage lending process
- Ability to carry out requisite loan calculations (DTI, LTV, etc.)
- Capable of preparing reports of findings
- Ability to handle multiple files simultaneously
- Perform well in team environments
