**About the Role**:
As a Veterinary Surgeon, you will be responsible for performing a variety of surgical procedures on animals to treat injuries, diseases, and congenital conditions. You will work closely with Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and other Veterinary Specialists to provide the highest level of care to animal patients.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Diagnose animal health problems and recommend appropriate surgical interventions.
- Perform surgical procedures, including but not limited to spaying and neutering, orthopedic surgeries, soft tissue surgeries, and emergency surgeries.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure the successful recovery of patients.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all surgical procedures and patient interactions.
- Consult with pet owners about surgical procedures, including discussing surgical options, post-surgical care, and potential risks.
- Manage anesthesia and analgesic protocols safely and effectively.
- Work collaboratively with other veterinary staff to facilitate a holistic approach to animal health.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and surgery through continued education and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary medical standards and ethics.
- Manage emergency cases as needed and provide on-call support if required.
**Qualifications**:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Licensure to practice veterinary medicine in [state/country].
- Completion of a surgical residency program accredited by the relevant veterinary board or equivalent experience in veterinary surgery.
- Strong skills in all aspects of veterinary surgery, including diagnostics, anesthesia, and patient management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex medical terms to non-medical personnel.
