**Job Purpose**:
1. To maintain Boiler & Turbine including their Auxiliaries in healthy & available condition.
2. To adhere to PM schedule and ensure timely completion of all the regular maintenance.
3. To timely execute the overhauling activities of equipment.
4. To execute all the respective routines, preventives, CAPEX, break down and overhauling activities of Mechanical maintenance and development projects of Energy Centre Boilers, Turbines so as to ensure uninterrupted steam and power supply to process to optimize and achieve their production within targeted cost and quality parameters.
**Job Context & Major Challenges**:
Job Context:
Birla Cellulosic is a Green Field Project of Grasim Industries Ltd. conceptualized in the year 1994 and was fully commissioned in 1998. Later on in the year 2008, Unit has expanded its production lines from two to four through brown field project. The Unit has an installed capacity of 350 TPD of Viscose Staple Fibre and is one of the modern Viscose Staple Fibre producing unit of Grasim's Pulp & Fibre Business, with its four manufacturing streams of Viscose Staple Fibre, 263 TPD Sodium Sulphate Plant, 59 TPD Carbon di Sulphide (CS2) Plant, 400 TPD of Sulphuric Acid Plant, 40 MW (2x15 MW + 1x10 MW) Captive Thermal Power Plant and other auxiliary plants like Water Treatment, Demineralization & Effluent Treatment Plant etc.
The technology of producing Viscose Staple Fiber is of continuous nature. The viscose is produced from dissolving grade pulp, which is a product of certain selected species of wood. The viscose has got a typical characteristic to coagulate if heated or kept for a longer period without movement. Even slightest fluctuation and/or interruption of power, not only results in heavy production loss but also in heavy deterioration in viscose quality and thus in final product. The job has got great accountability of maintaining Boiler & Turbine including their Auxiliaries in healthy & available condition so as to ensure uninterrupted power & steam supply at all the time.
Other Major Challenges:
1. Plant Availability: To achieve 100% availability of boilers & turbines for operation.
2. Involvement & decision making for resolving critical issues related with trouble shooting of critical equipment's like, Boilers, Turbines etc.
3. Technical inputs to materials management department for vendor selection & planning, scheduling and implementation of planned maintenance and overhauling activities for increasing & availability of critical equipment's.
4. To implement CAPEX & perform emergency maintenance activity of the boilers, turbines & auxiliaries within time period.
5. To explore new developments with the help of OEM and in other group units for Boiler & other rotary equipment to reduce maintenance cost.

- KRA1- Quantity & Quality- 1. To plan, develop and implement routine & non routine mechanical maintenance activities and development projects in boiler & turbines so as to ensure steam and power supply to Process to optimize and achieve their production within target cost and quality parameters.
2. Execution of PM as per schedule
3. Daily inspection of all equipment.
4. Execution of shut down maintenance/overhauling activities.
5. To increase MTBF & decrease MTTR.- KRA2- Quantity & Quality- 6. New developments to be explored with the help of OEM to reduce maintenance cost.
7. To adhere to NDT reports & take corrective actions.
8. Anticipate & eliminate problems from grass root which can otherwise hamper continuous running of Energy Centre.
9. Maintenance time to be minimized by incorporating new tools and ensuring maintenance practices are adhered.
10. Maintain the static equipment in healthy & available condition.- KRA3- Technological- To identify weak areas of Energy Centre equipment and practices and upgrading by new ideas and developments.- KRA4- Safety- Systemize safe working conditions and also the Environmental Standard.
a) To maintain and improve housekeeping and enforce safety standards of machines and work environment so as to avoid industrial accidents.
b) Implementation of corrective action against unsafe condition.- KRA5- People development- Nurturing & develop human resources to create a vibrant Operation team
