Nursing Superintendent

**JOB DESCRIPTION- NURSING SUPERINTENDENT**

**QUALIFICATIONS: GNM/BSc-Nursing**

**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 01 yrs & above**

**ROLES & RESPONSIBILITY**

Related to Hospital:
1. Prepares organizational chart indicating lines of communication for the Nursing

Service.

2. Plans, and ensures nursing service round the clock according to the need, providing

total coverage to the hospital.

3. Provides counselling to the nurses as and when required.

4. Helps in building image of the hospital by maintaining good public relations.

5. Ensures regular supervision of nursing service through rounds in the hospital.

6. Reads and analyses the daily reports received from the wards and submits a gist of

the same to the Medical Superintendent through matron.

7. Plans and implements special nursing services for certain specific areas eg. ICU,

O.T, etc.

8. Arrange for special nursing squads at the time of emergencies.

9. Ensures discipline and practice of ethics among the nurses in the hospital.

10. Establishes standards for performance in different areas of care.

11. Responsible for maintaining personal records of nursing staff.

Related to general administration:
1. Coordinates with Director Administration to appoint nurses for hospital nursing

service.

2. Confirms and promotes nurses according to service rules.

3. Ensures orientation of new nurses and in-service training for the nurses.

4. Develops specialized care, arranging special training for the nurses.

5. Encourages career development of the staff.

6. Initiates disciplinary action on nurses as and when required.

7. Represents nursing services in hospital committees where it is required.

8. To represent nursing services and maintain good liaison with all departments of the

hospital. 9. Reports to the Medical Superintendent regarding patient care as and when

required.

10. Contributes to the welfare services of the hospital.

11. Carries out any other job assigned to her Medical Superintendent at the time of

need.

Related to Nursing Education:
1. Cooperates with principal, school of nursing in overall programmes of student

education.

2. Ensures adequate clinical practices for the students in the hospital.

3. Ensures supervision and clinical teaching of students by the staff of the hospital.

4. Participates in all extracurricular activities organized by the School of Nursing.

5. Participates in teaching programmes of the students.

6. Ensures weekly / monthly meeting of supervisory staff. Supervises Nursing

Incharges& other nursing staff of the hospital.

7. Prepare objectives of the nursing department in accordance with that of the hospital.

8. Plans and monitors overall progress of nursing services.

9. Plans for promotions for different categories of nursing staff.

10. Devises programs for staff developments.

11. Provides leadership to the nursing department and encourages nurses to become

members

12. Professional associations & patient care also.

13. Initiates and coordinates research programmes for the nursing department.

14. Helps in building the image of the hospital, maintaining good public relationship.

15. Coordination b/w Administration & nursing staff.

16. Reports to Medical Superintendent on all patient care relation & nursing staff ratio

issues

**Salary**: ₹50,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month

- Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
