RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Adheres to policy on proper dress code and Universal Precautions (PPE) always
- Keeps the Phlebotomy areas neat, clean and well stocked with supplies for specimen collection
- Aware and prepare hypochlorite solution (0.1% for workbench and 0.5% for sharp disposal) daily as per lab safety policy.
- Segregation and safe disposal of biomedical waste.
- Records and maintains daily monitoring checklist and submit for verification.
- Greets patients in a courteous manner, responds to patients with empathy
- Properly instructs patients, in the correct way to collect specimens (i.e., for urine, sputum, stool, semen, GTT’s, etc.) based on test requested.
- Always accurately label the vacutainers (patient’s name, age, gender) based on the test and specimen required and gets acknowledged from the patient
- Always identifies correct patients by comparing identification details (at least two) on requisition with barcode provided before a procedure is performed
- Consistently draws blood properly using established laboratory procedures in a professional manner
- Always enter dates, time of specimen collection and dispatch to department on the sample receiving form
- Maintains awareness of timed specimen’s collection and their importance and attempts to collect these specimens at appropriate time (i.e., Glucose, Cortisol, Timed urine, Hormones, etc.)
- Appropriately stores and prepares specimens for transportation in accordance with established guidelines
- Enforces and follows all laboratory safety rules and reports any possible hazards to the In-Charges
- Shares appropriate communication with In-Charge involving difficult vein puncture, timed specimens, etc and record the details in sample rework register.
- Responds to changes in work schedules as necessary or as requested to work a different work shift when workload and / or other conditions
- Shows ability to handle unexpected situations like basic life support independently
- Aware of all procedures in accordance with lab policies and upgrade, if needed
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and should not solicit nor accept tips, gifts or other courtesies from patients or their relatives
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher
**Salary**: ₹11,000.00 - ₹13,000.00 per month
