**Education**: A bachelor’s degree is a minimum requirement for food chemists. A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or food science is acceptable.

**Company : Food Manufacturing**

Working Time : 8 Hours

**Food Chemist Job Duties:

- Testing food products for contaminants such as bacteria or pesticides to ensure that they meet safety standards
- Preparing samples for analysis by measuring ingredients and mixing them according to instructions
- Conducting research to develop better ways to preserve food or detect spoilage at an early stage
- Testing food for allergens such as peanuts, gluten, or soybeans to ensure that the product label accurately reflects its contents
- Identifying chemical components of natural ingredients like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and spices
- Analyzing the nutritional content of food products to ensure that they are meeting federal guidelines for fat, sodium, fiber, etc.
- Reviewing scientific literature about new food products or ingredients to determine their safety or possible health benefits
- Testing food samples in labs for microbiological contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, and molds
- Developing new food products using computer modeling techniques to analyze molecular structure
