**Job Profile**:
Responsible for determining the quality and quantity of gold and silver in ore samples using fire assay techniques. This role is crucial in the mining and metals industry, ensuring accurate analysis for valuation and processing.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Sample Preparation**:

- Collect and prepare samples of ore or metal for analysis.
- Crush and grind samples to ensure uniformity.
- **Fire Assay Process**:

- Conduct fire assay procedures, including fusion, cupellation, and separation of metals.
- Utilize various reagents and fluxes to assist in the assay process.
- **Equipment Operation**:

- Operate and maintain furnaces and other laboratory equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor temperatures and other parameters during the assay process.
- **Analysis and Reporting**:

- Analyze the results of assays to determine the gold and silver content in samples.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation of findings for management and clients.
- **Quality Control**:

- Ensure compliance with industry standards and protocols for assay accuracy.
- Perform regular calibrations and maintenance of equipment.
- **Safety Practices**:

- Follow all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in chemistry, geology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in fire assay techniques or laboratory work is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety regulations in a laboratory environment.

**Working Conditions**:

- Work is typically performed in a laboratory setting with exposure to heat and chemicals.
- May require lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
