**About IRRI**

**Job Purpose**
Under the minimum supervision of the Senior Scientist, this position will be responsible for undertaking gender research studies in OneCGIAR projects and, publish and communicate results. This position would conceptualize, design and lead gender and social analyses that would aid CGIAR’s technology development, dissemination, impact evaluation and scaling that is gender-responsive and youth-inclusive ensuring wider and lasting impact.
The incumbent will contribute to the implementation of research activities of the Work Package 6 on ‘Scaling equitable access to quality seed’ in the new OneCGIAR Delivering Genetic Gains in Farmers Fields (SeEdQUAl) Initiative. The Senior Scientist will coordinate and contribute to the design and implementation of activities of work package 6 in South Asia, which focuses on enhancing inclusive access to quality seed of preferred crops and varieties to women and other vulnerable groups to enhance their resilience, augment their productivity and income. The research focuses on developing, testing and evaluating gender responsive seed information delivery pathways; capacity building and business models for engaging women and youth in seed production and marketing; strategies for enhancing synergies between formal and farmer-managed systems and; metrics and mechanisms for tracking inclusive access to seed.
The responsibilities include leading design, planning, coordination and, implementation of research projects/studies around gender in seed systems. He/She will monitor and validate qualitative and quantitative research data collection and analysis and lead development of manuscripts for reports/publications as well as presentations/posters and other communication products.
**This position will be based at the IRRI India Office in Bhubaneswar and may only be filled in by permanent citizens of India.**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Conceptualize, design and lead implementation of gender and social analyses in SeEdQUAL, including obtaining ethics review clearance
- Manage the planning, designing and implementation of qualitative and quantitative surveys and other activities related to SeEdQUAl WP 6.
- Develop gender indicators, methods and tools to track for M&E and, evaluate changes in gender responsiveness and inclusiveness of seed systems.
- Co-ordinate/oversee/lead data analysis using the most appropriate and advanced statistical tools to support gender research studies in SeEdQUAL and ensure quality of data
- Lead the development of reports, scientific publications and communication products based on the research studies
- Lead/contribute to the development of research proposals on gender
- Support with strengthening the technical capacity of IRRI and its partners to use advanced tools and methods for gender research and integrate gender in research
- Manage and nurture engagement with internal and external academic, research and development partners and collaborators for project design and implementation and could facilitate implementation of SeEdQUALGender R4D agenda
- Work closely with gender research team across Work Packages and CG Centers in India and Asia to ensure collective impact at scale
- Work with different project management teams and specialists at IRRI, CGIAR and in the GENDER Platform to ensure strong integration of gender
- Maintain regular communication with IRRI HQ, other Country Office researchers, other CG gender researchers to ensure activities are implemented as planned and reporting deadlines are regularly met
- Provide guidelines to internal and external stakeholders (e.g. partners and farmers) considering the implementation of surveys, demonstrations, trainings, and other research activities
- Represent IRRI and OneCGIAR at national and international workshops, conferences, and meetings
- Represent IRRI and OneCGIAR with donors, government institutions, project partners, coordinating bodies and other stakeholders as per project requirements
