In recent past, there have been security concerns regarding theft and burglary in most our commercial and residential places. This has led to development and installation of CCTV surveillance systems to cub the menace. Moreover, these CCTV surveillance cameras need to be installed by skilled personnel who are experienced in this field. Such a professional needs to have qualified credentials in order to do his or her job in a fulfilling manner. Their roles and responsibilities need to go in hand with their work ethics.

**These roles and responsibilities are listed below with brief explanations**
**1. Installation and configuration of IP CCTV systems and associated Access Control Systems**:
The technician should have prior knowledge of IP CCTV systems, access control systems to be paired with the CCTV cameras for proper coordination of the system. Accessories such as the burglar alarm systems are also installed and configured together to notify the order of any breakage or burglary occurring in the premises. Technicians should know the trends in order to get the latest product in the market for efficiency purposes.

**2. Evaluate signal quality and performance with computers, networks and software**:
After installation of CCTV cameras, the technician should examine the quality of the reception the viewer gets when the surveillance systems are in operation. CCTV systems are also connected to a computer having a software that links them together. With the availability of internet, video footage of the CCTV can be recorded and stored in the computer for future references. It also provides a platform for the footage to be seen live as the events unveil. With the recent technological advancements, CCTV systems can now be able to be connected to your mobile device via the internet and viewers can access it from anywhere.

**3. Repair and Configuration of CCTV systems**:
Diagnostic tests are done by the CCTV installer after some period of time to ensure efficiency in its operation. Repairs are also made in the systems and software updates are not left out either. All these troubleshooting is beneficial to the clients as they enhance the CCTV surveillance systems with the latest innovations in technology to ensure maximum security is attained.

**4. Provision of Training to the Customer Personnel**:
Most clients have little or no knowledge concerning the operation of these equipment installed in their premises. It is the role of the CCTV installer to enlighten them on how these gadgets work. This is because they will be left to operate the surveillance systems after installer is done. Most of these clients need to be taught the basic operations like how to switch on the device, how to record and store footage for future reference. Manuals can also be handed to them for them to make references if need be.

**5. Utilization of Technical Manuals from Manufacturers to Troubleshoot Systems**:
Every electrical gadget comes with its technical manual and one should request it from the manufacturer in case it was never included during the purchase. These technical manuals assist the installer to troubleshoot the surveillance systems for any technical hitches. With the ever increasing trends in technological innovations, different products are manufactured on a daily basis and these new products have distinct ways of operations making it compulsory for installers to have a copy of the manual for proper functioning of the system.

**6. Selling of new services to Customers and Updating existing Clients on the Trending Products**:
These are roles and responsibilities of CCTV installers. As the technology changes with time, there is a need for clients to be updated on the new products in the market. This information goes a long way in ensuring they are up to date with their security concerns hence giving them satisfaction with the product in question. Technicians on the other hand, have to look for potential customers who are in need of their services and provide it as requested.

**7. Complete the Paper work as directed by the Management**:
After installation of the product and performing the commissioning, it is the responsibility of the installer to produce written document detailing that the product was installed as requested. A copy of this document is handed over to the client upon putting his or her signature. The document ensures that the customer was satisfied with the work done by the CCTV installer. The document in question also contains a service contract that requests the client to allow the installer to maintain the surveillance system after a given period of time. This is done regularly at intervals to ensure error-free operation of the CCTV systems.
