Quality Control Chemist - Salt Refinery
**Job Summary**:
The Quality Control Chemist in a salt refinery is responsible for ensuring the quality and purity of salt products through rigorous testing and analysis. Working within the refinery's laboratory, the Quality Control Chemist conducts various chemical and physical tests on salt samples, monitors production processes, and ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Salt Sample Analysis**:Perform chemical and physical analysis on salt samples, including moisture content, impurity levels, particle size distribution, and color.
Conduct routine testing using laboratory equipment such as titrators, spectrophotometers, and moisture analyzers.
**Process Monitoring**:Monitor production processes to ensure that they meet quality standards.
Collaborate with production teams to identify and address any deviations from specifications.
**Quality Assurance**:Work closely with the quality assurance team to establish and maintain quality control procedures.
Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
**Method Development and Validation**:Develop and validate analytical methods specific to salt analysis.
Ensure that testing methods comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
**Documentation**:Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests, procedures, and results.
Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to quality control processes.
**Compliance**:Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements relevant to salt production (e.g., FDA, HACCP).
Stay informed about changes in regulations and update procedures accordingly.
**Data Analysis and Reporting**:Analyze data and prepare reports summarizing test results, trends, and any necessary corrective actions.
Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders, including production and quality teams.
**Safety and Environmental Compliance**:Adhere to safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment in the laboratory.
Ensure proper handling and disposal of laboratory waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Quality Control Chemist in the salt or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of salt refining processes, analytical techniques, and quality control principles.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
**Working Conditions**:
- Work primarily takes place in a laboratory within the salt refinery.
- May involve exposure to chemicals and other materials commonly used in salt production.
- Flexible working hours may be required to accommodate testing schedules.
