- **OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME**

The Public Information and Advocacy unit coordinates WHO's internal and external communication with partners and the public. Build and protect WHO's brand equity through strategic Communication.

**DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES**

Under the supervision of Public Information and Advocacy Officer-SEARO, Communication Officer - Campaigns will assume the following roles and responsibilities:

- Support preparation of campaign material such as scripts for videos, e-posters, photo stories, and other exhibition material in line with the SEARO's communication plan for various WHO days (like World Health Day and year-long plan for celebrating 75 years of WHO), events and meeting, to be used on both internal and external communication platforms. Liaison with technical units to create communication plans and related products for WHO days and meetings.
- Support in drafting and editing web/features stories, success stories from Member States around the key developments and public health achievements in the Region.
- Assist PIA in implementing WHO Regional Communication Strategy.
- Be the focal point in the PIA team for internal communication.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Submit an assignment report at the end of assignment.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**

Essential: University degree in social sciences, communication and/or journalism from a recognized university.

Desirable: Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism or Public Relations or a related field.

**Experience**

Essential: At least five years' experience preferably working in the field of journalism and development sector communication.

Desirable: Experience of working with global public health issues. Experience working in multilingual environment.

**Skills**

Excellent writing and editorial skills. In-depth knowledge of communications approaches, tools, and methodologies essential to planning and executing effective campaign strategies and programmes, e.g. campaign management, media operations and message targeting. Ability to keep abreast of available technology.
