Ensuring staff follow workplace protocols and procedures
- Helping nurses with patient-related questions
- Overseeing the transition from one shift to another
- Assisting patients and administering treatment
- Supervising and supporting other nurses and unit staff
- Creating staffing schedules and assigning nurses to patients or tasks
- Training new hires or implementing new programs with existing staff
- Overseeing safety compliance and ensuring that organizational regulations are met
- Promoting and restoring patients' health by overseeing the management and planning of patient care
- Directing, mentoring, and scheduling staff
- Communicating job expectations and providing input to nursing supervisors on staff performance reviews
- Maintaining a clean working environment
- Overseeing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Monitoring medical charts
- Administering compassionate care and assistance to patients
