- Bake cakes and pastries in ovens at the correct temperatures and adjust timing for each batch.
2. **Design and Decoration**
- Create visually appealing and unique cake designs, often tailoring to customer specifications for special occasions (weddings, birthdays, etc.).
- Use piping, fondant, chocolate work, and sugar art to decorate cakes and desserts artistically.
- Stay updated on industry trends and innovative decorating techniques.
3. **Quality Control**
- Ensure that all products meet high standards of quality, appearance, and taste.
- Maintain consistency in all products by adhering to recipes and presentation standards.
- Test and taste products to confirm they are up to standard.
4. **Menu Development**
- Develop new cake and dessert recipes or variations on existing items, considering seasonality and customer preferences.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to develop and expand the dessert menu.
- Consider customer feedback and trends to introduce popular or innovative desserts.
5. **Inventory and Ordering**
- Track ingredient inventory, including perishable and non-perishable items, to ensure they are stocked for daily production.
- Work with suppliers to order fresh ingredients, keeping quality and cost in mind.
- Manage stock rotation and minimize waste through efficient ingredient usage.
6. **Kitchen Maintenance and Sanitation**
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, following food safety standards.
- Ensure all equipment, tools, and appliances are clean, sanitized, and in proper working condition.
- Adhere to hygiene and food safety regulations, including handling food safely and wearing protective gear.
7. **Customer Service and Custom Orders**
- Meet with customers to discuss specific requests for custom cakes or desserts, considering dietary preferences, themes, and event details.
