India Migration Now is an initiative of the Southeast Migration Foundation, a nonprofit company based out of Mumbai since 2018. Our work has been at the forefront of migration research and policy making in India. Our mission is to mainstream migration (into, within and from India) across the board in India. We help governments, capital markets, industry and civil society help service migrant households better. Along with research and advocacy
(under the banner "India Migration Now"), we are building an open data ecosystem for tracking and measuring migration better. Chalo Network is our award-winning financial inclusion engine which delivers financial and social welfare services to migrant communities across India. Our team is 90% remote.

**About The Position**

We are looking for a Migration Research Associate to come and work on internal migration and external Migration research projects, writing proposals and organising events. The person should have **strong writing and drafting skills, experience in creating briefing notes, memos, meeting minutes, policy briefs, Conduct fieldwork, including participant recruitment, data collection, and interviews, Organize and manage project data, including data entry, cleaning, and analysis**

Position profile and expectations

Contribute and assist the ongoing research in the area of Migration and Policy Research under
India Migration Now.
Contribute to the analysis of data from the field and build upon the research in liaise with the Lead
Researcher on the project.
Individually or with others, contribute to the research project through undertaking fieldwork using both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and assist with the editing and preparation of manuscripts and presentations.
To undertake literature reviews and contribute to the production of research reports, conference papers, and peer-reviewed journals where appropriate.
To liaise with project and programme partners internally and externally to support the delivery of the research project and/or programme.
Effective communication - is able to navigate interactions with senior bureaucrats
Experience of being a part of large projects, where multiple internal and external stakeholders need to work together quickly and seamlessly
Conduct fieldwork, including participant recruitment, data collection, and interviews
Organize and manage project data, including data entry, cleaning, and analysis
Support senior research staff in the development and implementation of research projects
Write and contribute to research reports, policy briefs, and other publications
Collaborate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions
Attend relevant events and conferences to stay up-to-date on developments in the field
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

**Qualifications**:
Passion and interest in migration studies.
1-2 years of experience in conducting migration research
Ability to conduct thorough research and analysis.
Working knowledge (speaking and writing) of English
Ability to work with deadlines.
Ability to learn quickly and work in a dynamic team.
Ability to interpret and write about policy documents, regulations, and legislations.
Organized and meticulous.
Experience with fieldwork, including participant recruitment and interviewing
Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of migration and policy research, including an understanding of relevant theoretical frameworks and debates
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
