**Key Responsibilities**:

- Conduct Newborn Hearing Screenings:

- Perform hearing screening assessments on newborn infants using appropriate screening equipment and protocols.
- Administer otoacoustic emissions (OAE) tests and/or automated auditory brainstem response (AABR) tests to identify potential hearing loss in newborns.
- Ensure Screening Accuracy:

- Ensure accurate and reliable test results by following standardized procedures and protocols for conducting newborn hearing screenings.
- Maintain proper calibration and maintenance of screening equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Data Collection and Documentation:

- Record and document screening results, demographic information, and relevant medical history for each newborn screened.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in screening databases and electronic medical records systems.
- Provide Counseling and Support:

- Communicate screening results to parents and caregivers clearly and compassionately, providing information and support regarding next steps, follow-up testing, and available resources.
- Offer guidance and counselling to families of newborns with suspected or confirmed hearing loss, connecting them with appropriate early intervention services and support networks.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Providers:

- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including obstetricians, paediatricians, and audiologists, to ensure coordinated care and follow-up for infants identified with hearing loss.
- Facilitate referrals to audiological evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and early intervention services as needed.
- Community Outreach and Education:

- Participate in community outreach activities, health fairs, and educational events to raise awareness about newborn hearing screening, early detection of hearing loss, and the importance of early intervention.
- Provide information and resources to healthcare providers, educators, and community members about available services and support for families of children with hearing loss.
- Quality Assurance and Improvement:

- Participate in quality assurance activities, including ongoing training, competency assessments, and performance reviews, to ensure adherence to screening protocols and best practices.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of newborn hearing screening services.

**Functional Responsibilities**:

- Operation and Maintenance of Screening Device:

- Ensure the proper operation and regular maintenance of screening devices to maintain accuracy and reliability in newborn hearing screening assessments.
- Sensitization and Awareness for Parents/Pregnant Mothers:

- Conduct sensitization and awareness sessions for parents and pregnant mothers regarding the importance of early identification of hearing loss and prepare them for the screening test.
- Recording of Parent and Newborn Data:

- Record and maintain detailed data and information of parents and newborns undergoing screening, including demographic details, medical history, and contact information.
- Maintenance of Reports:

- Prepare and maintain comprehensive reports documenting screening outcomes, referrals, and follow-up actions for each newborn screened.
- Referral Process:

- Post-identification of hearing loss, refer newborns to follow-up diagnostic tests, such as Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (BERA), for confirmation and further evaluation.
- Support for Early Intervention:

- Assist parents by providing information about available facilities and resources for habilitation processes, including referral to the VAANI Early Intervention Centre (SRC).
- Collaboration with Training and Project Teams:

- Support training and project teams by providing necessary information, data, photographs, and videos for program reporting purposes.
- Data Entry and Confidentiality:

- Enter children and parent details accurately into both manual registers and online databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Relationship Development with Healthcare Professionals:

- Establish and maintain relationships with paediatricians, ENT specialists, nurses, audiologists, speech therapists, and other stakeholders, updating them regularly on newborn screening activities and outcomes.

**Salary**: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
