Duty Medical Officer (DMO)

**Reports To**:
Medical Superintendent / Hospital Administrator

**Job Summary**:
The Duty Medical Officer at Firm Hospital is responsible for delivering high-quality medical care to patients during their assigned shifts. The DMO will play a critical role in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients, as well as handling medical emergencies efficiently. The role requires close collaboration with consultants, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and well-being.

**Key Responsibilities:Patient Care**:

- Perform initial assessments, including physical examinations and medical histories, for patients admitted to the hospital.
- Prescribe appropriate medications, treatments, and diagnostic tests based on patient conditions and hospital protocols.
- Monitor and manage the progress of inpatients, updating care plans as necessary.

**Emergency and Critical Care**:

- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, stabilizing patients and performing life-saving interventions such as CPR, intubation, and advanced resuscitation techniques.
- Manage trauma cases, cardiac conditions, and other acute medical emergencies until specialist care is available.
- Ensure timely referral and handover of critical cases to consultants or higher-level facilities when necessary.

**Collaboration and Coordination**:

- Work closely with consultants to implement treatment plans and provide updates on patient conditions.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff and allied healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Update patients' families about the progress and treatment plans in a compassionate and professional manner.

**Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, progress notes, and test results.
- Ensure all documentation complies with Firm Hospital’s policies and medical regulatory standards.
- Prepare detailed case summaries for patients being referred or discharged.

**Operational Support**:

- Ensure medical equipment and supplies in the hospital are functional and adequately stocked.
- Participate in hospital audits, quality assurance programs, and regular training sessions.
- Adhere to Firm Hospital's protocols for infection control, hygiene, and patient safety.

**Qualifications and Experience:Educational Requirements**:

- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (or relevant authority).

**Preferred Experience**:

- 1-3 years of experience in a hospital setting, particularly in emergency or critical care.
- Fresh graduates with the appropriate certifications and a proactive approach to learning may also be considered.

**Certifications**:

- **Mandatory**: Basic Life Support (BLS).
- **Preferred**: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), trauma management certifications, or equivalent.

**Key Skills**:

- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities.
- Competence in handling high-pressure situations, especially emergencies.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks during busy shifts.
- Empathy and commitment to delivering patient-centered care.

**Work Environment**:

- Shift-based work, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Frequent exposure to critical and emergency cases.
- A collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment.

Pay: ₹40,233.69 - ₹50,098.36 per month
