**Job Description: Podiatry Medical Coder**

**Job Summary**

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Medical Coding**:

- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for podiatry-specific diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensure proper coding of treatments, such as foot and ankle surgeries, diabetic foot care, orthotics, and other podiatric services.
- **Documentation Review**:

- Analyze medical records and clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify unclear documentation or discrepancies.
- **Compliance and Standards**:

- Ensure coding meets all federal, state, and payer-specific regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
- Stay updated with coding changes, billing regulations, and podiatry-specific requirements.
- **Claims Management**:

- Support the preparation and submission of claims for reimbursement.
- Assist in resolving coding-related denials and audits.
- **Reporting and Analysis**:

- Generate coding and billing reports to track trends and ensure optimization of reimbursement.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in documentation and coding processes.

**Qualifications**

**Education and Certifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in health information management preferred.
- Certification such as **CPC (Certified Professional Coder)**, **CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)**, or equivalent.

**Experience**:

- [1-3] years of experience in medical coding, with a focus on podiatry or related specialties.
- Strong knowledge of podiatry-specific medical terminology and procedures.

**Skills**:

- Proficiency in using medical coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in coding and billing.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience with payer-specific guidelines for podiatry services.
- Knowledge of compliance programs and audit protocols.
- Familiarity with medical billing processes.
