Level 1: The role holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about children or young people, as part of their work; therefore, a police check will not be mandatory unless the content or location of the role changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level will be reviewed.
Level 2: Either the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (Finance, Monitoring & Evaluation, Legal etc.); therefore, a police check will be required.
Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in programs; or are visiting programs; therefore a police checkwill be required.
**ROLE PURPOSE **:To plan, implement and monitor the project in Nashik Maharashtra which is focusing on **“ Improved Access to Quality and Play-Based Early Learning for Children aged 3-8 years” **in 75 AWCs and 50 with an emphasis on developing school readiness and foundational literacy and numeracy skills in 3-8 years old children by integrating play based learning approaches at centre, school and at home, generating evidences on learning through play for advocacy purposes and technical assistance to state and strengthening education support system.
**SCOPE OF ROLE**
**_About the Project _**
- Bal Raksha Bharat is looking for a dynamic person from the field of education for this project to lead and successfully deliver against a set of challenging objectives and for setting high standards in how Bal Raksha Bharat demonstrates impact in education.
- Bal Raksha Bharat intends to recruit an Assistant Manager - Education in Nasik Maharashtra to deliver against a set of challenging objectives under the project.
- Improved Access to Quality and Play-Based Early Learning for Children aged 3-8 years.
- Overall objective of the project is to improve access to quality early learning for girls and boys of 3 - 8 years.
- S/he, Coordinator - Project - Improved Access to Quality and Play-Based Early Learning for Children aged 3-8 years” will be located at Nasik Maharashtra and will be overall in charge of implementation and monitoring of the project.
**Scope**:
- Overall responsibility for effective planning and implementation of project activities in Nashik Maharashtra, track the progress and ensure that the project delivers on its objectives and within the time framework and financial allocations, managing risks and escalating any issues where necessary.
- Work with field team to develop and implement practical and achievable implementation with support from the PIU head and Manager project and in close coordination with thematic manager at NSO.
- Provide oversight to project components implemented by the field staff and ensure that they deliver in line with the objectives of the project.
- To plan and implement capacity building programs for AWWs, AW helpers, parents, school teachers, project staff and other stakeholders on the project components and issues related to early learning, usage of play-based teaching and learning approaches and other modern pedagogical practices.
- Periodic supervisory visits to AWC, schools/ intervention locations, interaction with AWWs, school teachers, principals and children and demonstrate usage of play based early learning items / kits and validate the progress.
- Work closely with AWWs, school principals, block/district level duty bearers to ensure material and resources given under the project made functional and accessed by AWWs, teachers and children.
- Build and strengthen effective working relationships with key government education departments / offices; ICDS, SSA, DEO and BEO to influence the decisions related to learning and wellbeing of children and technical assistance to line departments in state to support implementation of new government policy on early learning.
- Get agreements signed with Education and DWCD departments in Maharashtra and ensure release of necessary orders and circulars as and when required under the project.
- Represent Bal Raksha Bharat (Save the Children) in relevant forums at district and state level to influence opinion on evidence-based early learning models for children 3-8 years and their access to education.
- Prepare briefing notes, documents and periodic reports on the intervention for internal purpose as well as for donor requirements.
- Liaison with civil society networks and forums at district and state level and do advo
