**Fellowship - Cytogenetics (2 years) at Tata Medical Center Kolkata**
**Qualification**:
- MD Pathology or equivalent in the relevant specialty
**Duration of fellowship: Two Years**
The Fellowship programme has been designed to train pathologists to establish and run a
genetic laboratory independently, complimenting his/her knowledge in Pathology. The
program integrates training in conventional and molecular cytogenetics in both haematological
and solid tumours in a single program of minimum 24 months. Fellows spend dedicated time
in both liquid and solid tumour genetics rotating through Cytogenetics, Hemato-pathology,
Flow cytometry and Molecular Genetics Laboratories at Tata Medical Center.
During the two-year training program our fellows gain hands on experience in performing,
analysing and interpreting data from karyotyping, FISH and other molecular assays in
haematological malignancies and solid tumours. The fellows will participate in quality control
exercises and validate new assays.
The fellows will have exposure to wide range of clinical and basic research activities across
research within the training program.
In the second year of fellowship the fellow is eligible for one month of deputation in a laboratory
outside the institute to gather experience from other premiere institutes.
The fellow shall be encouraged to write papers for publications and present papers in national
/ international conferences and contribute to research projects.
**The Fellow will be paid a consolidated amount starting Rs 80,000/month.**
