**Responsibilities**:
- **Echocardiography Procedures**: Perform echocardiographic studies including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and stress echocardiograms according to physician orders and department protocols.
- **Patient Preparation**: Prepare patients for echocardiography procedures, explain the examination process, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
- **Equipment Setup and Maintenance**: Set up and calibrate echocardiography equipment, ensuring proper functioning and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- **Image Acquisition**: Obtain high-quality echocardiographic images using ultrasound equipment, adjusting settings and transducer placement as needed to optimize image quality.
- **Image Analysis**: Analyze echocardiographic images and Doppler data to assess cardiac anatomy, function, and blood flow patterns. Recognize and report abnormalities to interpreting physicians.
- **Documentation**: Document findings accurately and completely in patient records, including image acquisition parameters, measurements, and diagnostic impressions.
- **Quality Assurance**: Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory standards for echocardiography.
- **Patient Education**: Provide patient education regarding echocardiography procedures, answer questions, and address concerns to enhance patient understanding and cooperation.
- **Team Collaboration**: Collaborate with cardiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure timely and accurate interpretation of echocardiographic studies.
- **Continuing Education**: Stay informed about advances in echocardiography technology, techniques, and protocols through ongoing education and professional development activities.
**Requirements**:
- **Education**: Associate's degree or equivalent in cardiovascular technology or diagnostic medical sonography from an accredited program.
- **Certification**: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- **Experience**: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Echocardiography Technician, with proficiency in performing TTE, TEE, and stress echocardiograms.
- **Technical Skills**: Strong technical skills in operating echocardiography equipment and obtaining high-quality images. Experience with 3D echocardiography and strain imaging is desirable.
- **Communication Skills**: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.
- **Attention to Detail**: Keen attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret echocardiographic images and measurements.
- **Problem-Solving Skills**: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and adapt to changing patient needs during echocardiography procedures.
- **Patient Care**: Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, with a commitment to providing exceptional service to patients.
- **Team Player**: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
