Job Overview: As an R&D Chemist for our third-party cosmetic manufacturing company, you will play a key role in the development and formulation of innovative cosmetic products. Your expertise in chemistry and research will contribute to the creation of high-quality, safe, and marketable cosmetics for our clients. **Responsibilities**:
1. Formulation Development: Design and develop new cosmetic products, including skincare, haircare, and personal care, based on client requirements, market trends, and regulatory guidelines.

2. Ingredient Selection: Research and select appropriate raw materials, active ingredients, and functional additives for cosmetic formulations, ensuring safety, efficacy, and compliance with industry standards.

3. Laboratory Experiments: Conduct experiments, tests, and trials to evaluate the performance, stability, and compatibility of cosmetic formulations, making adjustments and improvements as needed.

4. Quality Control: Collaborate with the quality control team to establish and implement quality control protocols for raw materials and finished products, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of formulation development, experimental data, and other relevant documentation in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.

6. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on the latest regulations, guidelines, and industry trends related to cosmetic product development, ensuring compliance and adapting formulations accordingly.

7. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, marketing, and sales, to ensure effective collaboration, smooth product scale-up, and timely project completion.

8. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues or challenges related to product formulation, stability, or performance through effective problem-solving techniques.

9. Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, scientific advancements, and market trends in the cosmetic industry, conducting research to explore new formulation possibilities and innovative solutions.

10. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in cosmetic formulation development, preferably within a third-party manufacturing or contract research/manufacturing organization (CRO/CMO).
- Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, their functions, and interactions, as well as their regulatory requirements and restrictions.
- Familiarity with relevant industry guidelines and regulations, such as FDA, EU, and global cosmetic regulations.
- Proficiency in conducting laboratory experiments, tests, and analysis, with a good understanding of scientific principles and methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot formulation issues.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate technical information with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and laboratory safety protocols.
- Continuous learning mindset, keeping up to date with industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory changes.
