**Role Description**: Editing manuscripts of academic textbooks to correct spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation. Removing unsuitable content, reorganising text if required to maintain a consistent writing style and to ensure the message is communicated to the readers effectively.

**Work Hours**: Part-time. A normal work schedule is 30 hours per week. Editors usually work on multiple projects simultaneously.

**Educational Requirements**: Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or Journalism. Must have a passion for reading, an aptitude for English, and proficiency in grammar. Must be able to write clearly and logically and be detail oriented.

**Duties include**:

- Reading, editing, and rewriting content so that it is correct and understandable to the reader.
- Correcting spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation.
- Removing unsuitable content and filler material, maintaining a consistent writing style, and ensuring the author communicates their message to their audience effectively.
- Reorganising text to resolve any open-ended statements which can confuse the audience. Changing statements to make messages clearer or replacing their location in the content to make it more relatable to the audience.
- Referencing multiple materials both online and offline to ensure the details in a manuscript are correct.
- Working as per the publishing house’s guidelines related to font type, spacing, mentioning dates, crediting system, and index formats.
- Explaining manuscript changes to the Author(s) and Directors if required.
- Keeping track of scheduled dates to ensure the manuscript publishes on time.
- Attending weekly meetings with Directors to review book schedules and discuss any issues.
- Maintaining good working relationships with authors and other staff such as DTP operators, production, proof-readers, and graphics artists.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

Pay: ₹10,000.00 per month
