Job Description:
Roles & Responsibilities:

- Drive Safety Culture.
- Must have experience of working as a safety officer in a continuous manufacturing setup involving hazardous operations.
- To carry out plant safety inspections in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by workers and to render advice on measures to be adopted for removing the unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers to ensure maximum employee protection.
- To promote setting up of safety committees and to act as adviser and catalyst to such committees
- Should have exposure/expertise in handling/dealing Global EHS team members, participate/coordinate for percolating best EHS practices from Global levels to local Plant level and vice versa. Timely preparing, reviewing & updating of Local EHS procedures in line with Pentair Global procedures.
- In depth thorough knowledge about Permit to work systems followed by strict adherence and implementation of the same in factory premises spanning over a wide range of types of permits, Knowledge of area owner concept about safety at workplace.
- Knowledge on Fire Safety, Risk assessment, Electrical Safety and LOTOTO, Safety awareness, firefighting, First Aid etc. Must to have practiced it. Conduct regular training/refresher programs.
- Knowledge on HIRARC for routine and non-routine activity and Knowledge on HAZOP for manufacturing process.
- Timely reporting of accidents/incidents /near miss and conduct RCCM’s for the same within the agreed stipulated timelines.
- Collaborate with engineers/shift in charge/supervisors to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions of equipment.
- Investigate adequacy of equipment’s, which may affect employee health, comfort, or efficiency.
- Review medical reports in consultation with FMO and conduct studies to deterimine if diseases or illnesses are job related.
- Knowledge on Projects executed related to EHS,Should have worked on various projects like Integration of FAS/MCP’s and Gas detection systems with Addressable and centralization types systems.
- Knowledge on Safety Budgeting, well versed with various latest safety practices tools and tackles and best practices followed in such type of industries. Well versed with cost-benefit analysis to justify money spent on safety, Health & Environment.
- Conduct timely safety audits in consultation with certified external approved agencies.
- Liaison with Government agencies like GSPCB, CIFB, GIDC & Fire services, PWD etc. thereby Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements under safety, Health & Environment.
- Prepare and timely review of safety policy for the company. Develop/review Disaster Management Plan.
- Conduct regular mock drills.
- Review and update safety procedures periodically, risk analysis and risk assessment, accident investigations and statistics.
- Participate in educational meetings to instruct employees in matters pertaining to occupational health and prevention of accidents.
- Ensure good housekeeping standards based on 5-S and PEEP system.
- EHS training to contract and company employees. Prepare schedule for safety inspections area wise with safety talks and ensure effective implementations. Organizes campaigns, competitions & promotional activities to enhance awareness on EHS Requirements.
- Preparation and review of Environmental SOP’s & guidelines related to WRP (Water recycling Plant) & STP (Sewage Treatment plant), Maintain 100% performance of operations in line with the laid down norms. Monitor performance in coordination with WRP/STP Team and trend analysis and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate for the disposal of hazardous waste by incineration/ landfill to registered recyclers, waste disposal as per GSPCB laid down norms.
- Coordinate with external environmental agencies for the monthly monitoring of ambient air, vent stack, noise etc.
- Knowledge on ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 standards.
- Preparation and online reporting/submission to corporate of Monthly reports using various reporting tools.
- Any other requirements as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications:
Graduate/Diploma in Engineering /Others (BSC with Fire technology)

Mandatory Requirements:
- Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS) with recognition as Safety Officer from Chief Inspector of factories and Boilers-Goa.

**Experience**:
8-10 years working as a safety officer in a manufacturing setup involving hazardous operations.

Competencies:

- Knowledge on Factory Act 1948 and Goa factories rule 1985.

- Analytical ability,
- Team Working.
- Identifies training needs, design and imparting training to staff, visitors, subcontractors and workers.
