We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist to join Shell’s Data Science Team. Be part of a team focused on the development of end-to-end data science solutions and lead delivery of data science projects to create value to customers, and to Shell.

In this role, you will be a part of the Data Science team to contribute to the development of state-of-the-art solutions using emerging science and digital technologies to solve a variety of business problems, for example, in electric vehicle charging, renewable energy forecasting, predictive asset maintenance, industrial process optimization, improving the efficiency/CO2 footprint of our conventional assets etc. You will be working with other data scientists, data engineers, software developers and project managers to develop products in an agile environment.

**What is the role?**

In this role you will support the development and delivery of data science solutions in an agile fashion to the business, to provide insights & improvements to business processes, or contribute to the creation of innovative new business domains. You are expected to have a good understanding of both data-driven empirical models and process-driven physical models.

In addition, you will have experience in handling large volume of data from a variety of sources; merge data sources; ensure consistency of datasets; create visualizations to aid in understanding data; build machine learning algorithms using the data; and present and communicate the data insights to the business stakeholders.

Further Responsibilities are as follows:

- Researching machine learning models for forecasting, and geo-spatial modelling using the latest methods.
- Understanding of general linear modelling, multivariate analysis, statistical modelling, and preferred additional knowledge in timeseries modelling
- Write clean and maintainable production-level code, including tests; the tech stack we work with includes (you don’t need to have an experience with all of them): Python (Pandas, Scikit Learn, etc.), R, GIT, Docker, Azure, SQL.
- Work closely with the customer and the Product Owner on a day-to-day basis and the timely delivery of the full scope of the DS solutions
- Work in a highly-collaborative, friendly Agile environment, participate in Sprint ceremonies and Continuous Improvement activities.
- Documenting and explaining the results of analysis or modelling to both a technical and non-technical audience.
- Learning new engineering practices, technologies and continuously improving our Agile practices.

**What we need from you**
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of overall work experience with minimum of 1-2 years relevant experience in developing data science solutions, preferably, for either predictive asset maintenance, industrial process optimization, data science for oil and gas, or renewable power forecasting.
- A working knowledge of mathematical modelling of physical processes. Optimization methods constrained by economic and operational parameters.
- Good understanding of model output post-processing techniques (e.g., Ensembles, Model Averaging, Model Selection)
- Application of Deep Learning techniques for timeseries forecasting (e.g., LSTMs, GANs) and other computer vision technologies, in addition to traditional machine learning techniques for regression and classification problems.
- Ability to write clean, elegant and maintainable production-level code in Python and R. Experience in version control, testing and refactoring the code.
- Experience with the Python scientific stack, e.g., NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyMc3 or similar, etc.
- Familiar with CI/CD pipeline. Azure DevOps or similar tools for agile development.
