**Reports To**: Head Nurse or Nursing Supervisor
**Job Summary**:
The Nursing Staff is an essential component of the healthcare team responsible for providing direct patient care and ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of patients. Nursing Staff work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians to deliver high-quality patient care in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Patient Care**: Provide direct patient care, including bathing, feeding, changing dressings, administering medications, and monitoring vital signs.
**Patient Assessment**: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical and psychological evaluations, and report any changes or concerns to the registered nurse or physician.
**Medication Administration**: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
**Documentation**: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including vital signs, medication administration, and any changes in the patient's condition.
**Patient Education**: Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care instructions.
**Infection Control**: Implement and follow infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and use of personal protective equipment.
**Assist with Procedures**: Assist physicians and registered nurses with medical procedures and treatments as required.
**Mobility Assistance**: Help patients with mobility and transferring in and out of beds and chairs, ensuring their safety and comfort.
**Emergency Response**: Respond to medical emergencies, follow emergency protocols, and administer basic life support as needed.
**Maintain Supplies**: Ensure adequate supply of medical equipment and supplies in patient care areas and report any deficiencies.
**Collaboration**: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, physicians, and support staff, to provide comprehensive patient care.
**Compliance**: Adhere to healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA, to maintain patient confidentiality and safety.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent program is preferred.
- State certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion, empathy, and a strong desire to care for patients.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift, move, and assist patients as needed.
- Knowledge of infection control practices.
**Working Conditions**:
- Nursing Staff may work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
- The job often involves standing for extended periods and may require lifting and moving patients.
- Nursing Staff may need to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as healthcare facilities operate 24/7.
