**Job description**
- Developing and supervising implementation of and adherence to the commercial management plan, subcontract management plan and project risk management plan.
- Overseeing the procurement and commercial structure/framework for the project.
- Manage daily operations, including employee training and development, production planning
- Commercial managers are responsible for overseeing staff, suppliers, and contractors to ensure that deadlines are met. If issues arise with contractors, commercial managers work with them to resolve the problem as quickly as possible not to affect the schedule.
- Developing and monitoring the subcontractor and supply agreement process.
- Setting-up cost control systems.
- Advising on procurement strategy.
- Preparing timely estimates for construction contract packages.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks
- Monitor local and federal regulations
- Overseeing the performance of the commercial team, Directing and motivating a multi-cultural team and ensure all commercial objectives are delivered.
- Monitoring the progress of projects, providing direction to the project team
- Conducting regular site visits to check and record materials delivered to site, works progress achieved, change orders executed.
- Keeping the head informed as to any changes made in the field through coordination with engineers and supervisors.
- Contract negotiation, project planning, and risk management. Commercial managers coordinate commercial teams and collaborate with contract managers to resolve contractual and commercial issues.
- Conducting change order meetings to progressively settle change orders with the contractors.
- Ensuring evaluation of change orders be determined in accordance with contract conditions.
- Assisting in settling contractual disputes and analysing claims and extensions of time.
- Partners with Legal to perform contract reviews and assessments
- Finalising the project account.
- Attending and chairing meetings/workshops as required.
- Performing any other project related duties and responsibilities as stipulated in the agreement.
- Managing project cost and commercial functions ensuring that all project reporting, cash flow, budgets and forecasts comply with the client requirements.
- Attend review meetings with client/stakeholders along with PM team as and when required.
- Preparing supporting documentation for monthly reporting to facilitate clients in assessing project financial standing.
- Building and managing relationships with customers
- Commercial managers build relationships with clients to establish new contracts.
- Pursuing new business opportunities. Maintains extensive knowledge of product and service offerings, including new offerings.
- Researching current market trends and competitor news to anticipate the changes in consumer needs and compiles reports for future prospects.
- Performs scenario analysis, what if comparisons, sensitivity analysis
- Preparing tender documentation.
- Performing procurement and tendering tasks.
- Bid on new projects and negotiate contract terms
- Reviewing and commenting on tender documents, bills of quantities, unit rates, cost estimates and participate in tender evaluation.
- Participate on any Complex Deal review process related to deals in area of responsibility.
- Deliver ongoing education to ensure Sales understanding and compliance with the bid governance process. Work with the Sales Team to optimize deals and mitigate risks.
- Assess risks involved with new initiatives, ensure deadlines are met and be ready to handle unexpected situations.
- Understanding of global commerce and business capabilities and policies for global deals.
- Facilitate deal reviews and approvals by Sales and Finance by managing the communication and structuring of non-standard business opportunities.
- Build relationships with functional teams in order to enable close interactions for deal reviews and approvals, including active executive engagement.
- The Commercial Manager will become a strong business partner and trusted advisor for the Sales and Senior Management, and will ensure consistent end-to-end management of standard and non-standard deals in alignment with companies policies and procedures.
- Develop proposals and quotes; may negotiate with customers; ensure deals deliver shareholder value; drive competitive pricing. May include compiling and submitting required tender documentation.
- Develop accurate and consistent bids with the help of relevant departments
- Working alongside the senior management team, in the development, implementation and management of the commercial procedures.
- Evaluating business improvement opportunities and making recommendations to reduce costs, increase productivity, improve economic value added and increase earnings before interest, taxes and amortisation.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures in relation to legal, financial and administration matters - the standa
