A dialysis technician, also known as a hemodialysis technician, provides care for patients with kidney failure by performing dialysis treatments and monitoring patients:
- Patient careAssist patients with questions, concerns, and activities of daily living. Provide emotional support and personal care. Educate patients and their families about dialysis and healthcare.
- Dialysis treatmentSet up and prepare dialysis machines and equipment for each patient. Operate the hemodialysis machine. Monitor patients' vital signs before, during, and after treatment. Respond to alarms and make adjustments as needed.
- Equipment maintenanceMaintain, clean, and sterilize dialysis machines and equipment. Dismantle, clean, and disinfect equipment according to infection control protocols.
- Record keepingMaintain accurate patient records.
Dialysis technicians work in hospitals, clinics, and dialysis centers. They work alongside doctors and nurses
