A Sanskrit teacher is responsible for educating students in the Sanskrit language and its associated cultural and religious contexts. Their job description typically includes the following responsibilities:

- Curriculum Development: Design and develop lesson plans and course materials to teach Sanskrit language and literature to students. This includes selecting appropriate texts, creating assignments, and planning assessments.
- Classroom Instruction: Deliver engaging and effective Sanskrit language lessons to students. This may involve teaching the Sanskrit script, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
- Cultural and Historical Context: Provide insights into the cultural and historical aspects of the Sanskrit language, including its role in ancient Indian literature, philosophy, and religious texts.
- Language Proficiency: Assist students in developing proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding Sanskrit. This may involve teaching different levels of Sanskrit proficiency, from beginner to advanced.
- Sanskrit Literature: Teach students to analyze and appreciate classical Sanskrit texts, such as ancient epics (e.g., the Mahabharata and Ramayana), scriptures (e.g., Vedas and Upanishads), and classical Sanskrit poetry and drama.
- Transliteration and Translation: Instruct students in the transliteration and translation of Sanskrit texts, enabling them to access and understand Sanskrit content in their own language.
- Pronunciation and Phonetics: Help students learn proper Sanskrit pronunciation and phonetics, emphasizing the correct articulation of sounds unique to the language.
- Classroom Management: Maintain discipline in the classroom, manage student behavior, and create an environment conducive to learning.
