**Position Summary**:
Bechtel is seeking a Naval Architect to join the Engineering department within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit (M&T). The prime roles and responsibilities include:
**Job Dimensions**

A. Supervision Received
- Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from a Project Engineering Manager, Area Project Engineer, Senor Naval Architect, or Chief Engineer.

B. Supervision Exercised
- Provides operational direction and technical guidance to subordinate engineer, designer and detailer personnel as directed.

C. Contacts
- Establishes and maintains communication with design and engineering supervisors in charge of related disciplines and with administrative personnel within the group or project. Consults with suppliers, module yards, design and construction subcontractors, technical specialists, other disciplines/functions and client representatives as directed to provide and receive technical information and to ensure the coordination of the work within the project or assignment and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for assigned activities and deliverables within an engineering or design discipline on the projects.
- Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering in the preparation of designs and deliverables.
- Prepares layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings.
- Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs applicable to the discipline.
- Makes decisions concerning problems within the discipline on the project.
- Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work for a global business unit usually in one discipline in a project or staff group. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
- Coordinates assigned design work with other project groups.
- Prepares sea transportation design criteria.
- Performs sea routing selection and voyage planning.
- Develops Module Yard Quay and Jobsite MOF suitability study.
- Provides acceleration and motion analysis.
- Prepares Simply Fatigue assessment inputs (wave and wind cycles and stress level).
- Performs Stability analysis in sea transportation.
- Provides barge and towing vessel selection.
- Provides load-out and load-in support.
- Performs ballasting/de-ballasting and mooring analysis.
- Prepares grillage, sea fastening and stowage design.
- Performs module and barge interaction (reaction, deflection and twist and impact on module design).
- Provides sea transportation support (meteorological and metocean data monitoring, sheltered areas identification, etc.)
- Supports Barge/Tug towing power review.
- Reviews HAZID and HAZOP in sea transportation.
- Supports to promote the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

**Qualifications and Skills**

**Basic Qualifications**:

- BS degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering or closely related field from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent) with minimum 5 years of progressive relevant experience.
