Job Function
- Depot Planner in a locomotive maintenance depot plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the depot.
- This role involves a combination of planning, coordination, and maintenance management tasks.
- planning and coordinating maintenance and repair activities to keep the locomotives in optimal working condition.
- Strong understanding of locomotive systems, maintenance practices, safety regulations, and the ability to manage resources effectively.
- Responsible for balancing the need for regular maintenance with minimizing downtime and optimizing resource utilization.

**Principal Accountabilities**
- Maintenance Planning: Create and maintain maintenance schedules for locomotives, ensuring that they receive regular inspections, servicing, and repairs as per manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements.
- Resource Allocation: Coordinate the allocation of resources, such as maintenance crews, tools, spare parts, and equipment, to ensure that maintenance tasks are executed on schedule.
- Work Order Management: Receive and prioritize maintenance work orders. Plan and schedule maintenance tasks, assign them to appropriate teams or technicians, and ensure that all necessary resources are available.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and manage a preventive maintenance program to minimize breakdowns and extend the life of locomotives. This includes planning routine inspections and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Repairs and Overhauls: Plan and schedule major locomotive overhauls and repairs, coordinating with specialized teams or external contractors when necessary.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of spare parts and materials required for locomotive maintenance. Ensure that stock levels are sufficient and that reordering is done on time.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and protocols to minimize risks and accidents. Implement and oversee safety training for maintenance personnel.
- Data Analysis: Analyse historical maintenance data to identify trends and make informed decisions about maintenance procedures and resource allocation.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment history. Ensure compliance with documentation requirements and regulations.
- Communication: Collaborate with various departments and teams within the depot, including maintenance crews, engineers, procurement, and management, to ensure a coordinated and efficient workflow.
- Equipment Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of locomotives, including their maintenance histories, current condition, and scheduled maintenance requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, increased efficiency, and cost-saving measures within the maintenance depot.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to locomotive breakdowns or critical maintenance needs, adjusting schedules and resource allocation as needed to minimize service disruptions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the locomotive maintenance depot adheres to all relevant regulatory and environmental compliance standards.

**Desired Skills**:

- Bachelor of Engineering/Diploma in Engineering Degree in Electrical/Electronics discipline or its equivalent.
- Possesses more than 8 years working experiences in rolling stock.
- Good technical knowledge preferable Maintenance and Troubleshooting Electric Locomotive.
- Good knowledge of IT systems.
- Excellent communicator, both written and oral.
- People Management experience.
- Well versed in Maintenance Strategy of Locomotive
