Job Summary: The Supermarket Billing and Cashier role involves efficiently processing customer purchases, handling payments, and providing excellent customer service at the checkout counter. This position is crucial to ensure a smooth and positive shopping experience for customers while maintaining accurate financial transactions.
**Responsibilities**:
Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly manner, answer their queries, and assist with any concerns related to billing and payments.
Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, mobile payments, and other forms of payments while ensuring that all transactions are processed swiftly and securely.
Product Scanning: Scan and verify items using the supermarket's POS (Point of Sale) system, ensuring that each product's price and quantity are correctly recorded.
Price Verification: Assist customers in price checks and verify the accuracy of prices displayed on the items.
Bagging: Efficiently and carefully bag customers' purchases, ensuring items are appropriately packed to avoid damage.
Returns and Exchanges: Handle customer returns and exchanges, following the supermarket's return policy guidelines.
Maintain Checkout Area: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies like bags and receipt paper.
Loyalty Programs: Familiarize customers with the supermarket's loyalty programs, discounts, and special offers, encouraging sign-ups and participation.
Handle Vouchers and Coupons: Process various types of vouchers, coupons, and promotional offers accurately.
Cash Reconciliation: At the end of each shift, reconcile cash and payment transactions with the POS system, ensuring all discrepancies are reported to the supervisor.
Security Measures: Adhere to security procedures to prevent theft, fraud, or any unauthorized activity at the checkout.
Product Knowledge: Stay informed about the supermarket's products, prices, and any ongoing promotions to answer customer inquiries effectively.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other supermarket staff members, such as stockers and managers, to maintain a smooth flow of operations and address any customer-related issues.
Upselling: Suggest additional products or complementary items to customers to increase sales and enhance their shopping experience.
**Requirements**:
Educational Qualification: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required for this position.
Basic Mathematics: Proficiency in basic arithmetic is essential to accurately process transactions and provide correct change.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with customers and fellow staff members effectively.
Customer Service Skills: A friendly and helpful demeanor to ensure a positive customer experience.
Attention to Detail: Ability to pay close attention to product details, prices, and payment accuracy.
Multitasking: Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously, especially during busy hours.
Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with POS systems, barcode scanners, and other relevant technology used at the checkout counter.
Physical Endurance: Stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy items.
Integrity: Trustworthiness to handle cash and sensitive customer information responsibly.
**Salary**: ₹12,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
