Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery Delhi (IIGJ Delhi) is a subsidiary of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) India.

GJEPC India, founded in 1966, is the apex body driving India's export-led growth in the gem and jewellery sector, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.

The Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery Delhi (IIGJ Delhi) is an esteemed educational institution established in 1986 as a project of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council. It is recognized as one of the oldest and most prestigious institutes of its kind in India. In 2010, IIGJ Delhi was registered as a company "**Not for Profit**" under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 (now u/s 8 of the Companies Act, 2013). Over the years, the Institute has played a crucial role in the growth and advancement of the jewellery industry through its comprehensive education programs in jewellery design, gemology, and jewellery manufacturing and have certified more than 13,000 alumni.

**Job Description: Faculty-Gemology**

**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Teaching and Instruction**:

- Conduct lectures, workshops, and practical sessions to educate students on gemology courses, covering topics such as gemstone identification, diamond identification, grading standards, and gemstone treatments.
- Design and deliver engaging lectures, laboratory sessions, and field trips to enhance students' understanding of gemological concepts and techniques.
- Provide hands-on training in gemstone testing equipment, including microscopes, refractometers, spectrometers, and other tools used in gemstone analysis.

**2. Curriculum Development**:

- Design, develop, and update the Gemology curriculum to align with industry trends, technological advancements, and educational goals.
- Integrate relevant and current industry practices into the curriculum to ensure students are prepared for careers in the Gemology field.

**3. Mentoring and Advising**:

- Mentor students in conducting gemological research projects, assisting with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Offer career advice, and assistance in job placement for students seeking employment in the Gems & Jewellery sector.

4. **Research and Innovation**:

- Stay abreast of advancements in gemological science and industry trends, incorporating relevant updates into curriculum development and teaching materials.
- Contribute to the field by publishing research findings, participating in conferences, and collaborating with industry professionals.

5. **Lab & Inventory Management**:

- Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations related to handling gemstones and laboratory equipment.
- Supervise the usage of equipment, tools, and materials to ensure proper handling and adherence to safety protocols.
- Handle and manage the inventory of diamonds, gemstones and its periodic verification.

**6. Assessment and Evaluation**:

- Develop assessment methods and evaluate student performance through exams, projects, presentations, and other forms of evaluation.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills and knowledge

**7. Industry Engagement**:

- Engage with industry professionals and organizations to facilitate student internships, guest lectures, and career placement opportunities.
- Collaborate with industry partners to create opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and network with professionals.

**8. Professional Development**:

- Continuously enhance personal and professional skills through workshops, seminars, and training programs to stay updated with technological advancements and educational methodologies.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree preferably in Geology, or a related field.
- Professional certification from a recognized gemological institute (e.g., GIA, FGA, or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in the field of gemstones and diamonds.
- Teaching experience or relevant industry experience with a passion for educating and mentoring students.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: ₹400,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
