Job Purpose:
To study and recommend technology options and prepare Road Map for all new projects of Captive (Thermal) Power Plants for Approval.
. Study, Prepare and Submit for Approval of Design, Engineering, Installation and Safety Plan for TPP Projects, Coordinate and monitor execution of TPP Projects so as to achieve the desired performance parameter within budgeted time & cost and complying the requirement of statutory requirements.
. To prepare & submit for approval the prudent world class TPP design, edngineering and execution processes, systems and standards.
. Prepare Strength & Weakness of Contractor/vendors based on their market feedback and our execution experience to develope them. Ask interventions of Management for completing the projects on time.
. To study major technological issues in operating TPP, recommend solutions and CAPEX and monitoring execution at sites within budgeted time and cost.
Job Description:

1. To study and prepare data base for New Technology, OEM, cost & Efficiency, Execution time, Reliability & Safety about TPP Projects in India & Global.
. To track latest technological developments in the market through various means and sources.

. To study & evaluate new technologies in terms of Cost, Efficiency, Execution Time, Reliability and Safety and prepare Road Map.

. To recommend new technology for future projects in line with study and evaluation findings.

2. Prepare the Technical Capability of TPP Suppliers and their Strength & Weakness. This will help to Facilitate to select the suppliers by Project Procurement team.
. To search, evaluate and recommend suppliers based on technical competency, capabilities and past performance to Project Procurement team for floating technical tenders.
. Preparing Technical tenders. With the help of Technical Consultant & Site Input Data.
. To discuss with suppliers and put up for approve / disapprove technical deviations from tender technical specifications.
. Prepare Technical evaluation for Management approval.
. Prepare the technical ratings of the offers and recommend to Project Procurement team.

3. a). Prepare design, engineering and installation standards for achieving zero defect in project execution and submit for approval.
b) Prepare road map and guideline for Continuous improvement in Design, Engineering and installation Standard and submit for Approval.
. Monitor the implementation of approved standards in design, engineering and equipment manufacturing and inform the deviation to Management.
. Facilitate in providing solution to issues in implementation of approved standards in execution at sites
. Prepare post commissioning checklist and project learning's for TPP Project
. Gather Learning from all TPP Projects and submit for approval in develop format for capturing and documenting. Implement learning's of in all across TPP Projects.
. Keep Updating the TPP project standards in design, engineering or procurement or adherence to standards in execution by incorporating the learning's.
. To incorporate the project learning in upcoming new projects Technical Contract.

4. Prepare Complete L1 Schedule of TPP Project from Engineering to Commissioning. Highlight the Critical/Concern to management to take the corrective action.
. Prepare detail L1 Schedule and submit for Management approval.
. Identify the Critical Path activities and submit the same for Management monitoring.
. Monitor the Schedule closely and if any deviation observed bring to the notice of Management for corrective action.
. Arrange all required inputs from Site/Vendor to Technical Consultant for Meeting the Engineering Schedule.

5. a) To prepare the project schedule and monitor execution as per schedule to complete the TPP Projects within budgeted time & money.
b) To ensure equipment deliveries at project sites as per schedule.
c) To support site execution team, through providing solutions to engineering and execution issues and suggesting interventions, for expediting project execution.
d) To arrange project execution review meetings at site with various stake holders including suppliers, contractors, site team and HO project team for review of Project Schedule and inform the Critical activities to management for Action.
. Make the equipment deliveries at site as per schedule to meet the site progress.
. To monitor and help timely delivery of equipments at site as per schedule
. To select and recommend execution agencies based on technical competency, capabilities and past performance to Project Procurement team for floating execution tenders.
. Preparing tenders taking into account the site conditions, our requirements of plant and machinery resources and skills.
. Conduct the technical evaluations in consultation with Technical Consultant.
. Facilitate in deciding the technical ratings of the offers and provide recommendations to Project Procurement team.
. To study the engineering and construction issues in execution, interact with concerned stake-holders, generate and evaluate options and give solutions with least impact on time and cost.

6. Facilitate in Developing or Selection New Vendors for Getting Best Quality Product and Services in Time at Optimum Cost Ensuring Saving with Respect to Existing Vendors.
. Prepare Strength & weakness tool for Identifying Potential Vendors for Supply of Product & Services for TPP Projects.
. Conduct Vendor Assessment including Factory Visits, Market Feedback, Witnessing the Executed Projects, Financial Capabilities, Service Network, Response, etc and submit report for Approval.
. Prepare Vendor Information data bank in a prescribed format and Evaluate them Technically by Comparing with Existing Approved Vendors and Prepare SWOT Analyze and submit the same for Approval.
. Submit Recommendation for Considering in New Project.

7. Facilitate in Implementation of Approved UltraTech Safety Standards, Environmental Norms and Statutory Compliance in Design, Engineering and Installation during Contract Award Stage itself for smooth Execution
. Facilitate in Developing and implement Standards for TPP Applicable in Design, Engineering, Installation and Operation.
. Prepare Risks Assessment for New Equipment or Processes in Their Design, Operation and Maintenance and Develop Standards.

8. To Develop Project Design, Engineering and Procurement Capabilities of TPP Section Head and Prepare him for Taking Higher Responsibilities.
. To Identify Gaps in Knowledge, Technical & Behavioural Skills and Capabilities of Section Head-TPP.
. To Prepare and facilitate Implementation of his Individual Development Plans in Collaboration with Manager and HR.
. To Recommend for Identified Training Needs and Ensure its Implementation.
. To facilitate Inter Functional / Dept / Section Job Rotations for Developing Multi-Skilling to Ensure Hand Holding, Support Mentoring for Successful Job Rotation & Development of the Team Members

9. Centralized services
a) Standardization of equipments for reduction in inventory cost, seamless movement of operators, ease of obtaining support & services from OEMs.
b) SOPs for plants
. Prepare developing and implementing systems for collecting, updating and reviewing technical data of all TPP plants
. To develop plan for standardization of equipments all plants including existing in phased manner and submit for approval
. To develop and implement systems for common spare parts of costly equipments.
. To be nodal agency for getting services from OEMs, Consultants, Technical vendors, contractors etc.
