About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 08 S&P Global Commodity Insights The Role: Energy Strategies and Transformation Research Analyst Location : Gurgaon/Kuala Lumpur The Team: You will be part of the Upstream Transformation team, focused on helping oil and gas stakeholders manage all aspects of the energy transition. The team provides the critical information needed for oil industry players to reduce and offset their greenhouse gas emissions, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their core businesses, capture commercial opportunities presented by the energy transition, and benchmark their performance against their peers. The Impact: We are looking for a research analyst to join our Upstream Transformation team, who will contribute to generating the insights that help energy companies, technology firms, governments, and financial institutions capture the opportunities and navigate the challenges associated with a shift to low-carbon energy systems. Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly motivated individual to: Investigate the technological, deployment and commercial aspects of key low-carbon segments (e.g., hydrogen, CCUS, low-carbon mobility); track oil company commitments and activities in each of these domains Perform deep-dive analyses into core oil and gas technology segments (e.g., digital and AI, seismic, subsea, enhanced recovery) to produce hydrocarbon resources in a more effective, efficient and low-carbon manner Aggregate and organize collected information via databases and dashboards; provide insights into key trends and developments via written reports Support the team's broader research initiatives, client engagements and participation in industry events What we're looking for: Key qualifications Demonstrably strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, and critical thinking capabilities Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Proficiency with MS applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI) Knowledge of the energy and oil and gas sectors is beneficial Preferred Education - Petroleum Engineering Key soft skills Proactive, highly detail-oriented and inquisitive; especially when faced with information gaps and uncertainties Able to summarize and describe complex issues clearly and concisely Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Able to collaborate with a network of global colleagues About S&P Global Commodity Insights At S&P Global Commodity Insights, our complete view of global energy and commodities markets enables our customers to make decisions with conviction and create long-term, sustainable value.
