Senior Credit Manager

- Conduct comprehensive credit analysis of business loan applications, evaluating financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents.
- Assess the financial health, credit history, and repayment capacity of SME applicants to determine their eligibility for loans.
- Utilize quantitative and qualitative data to make informed decisions on credit approvals, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate credit risks associated with each loan application, considering factors such as industry trends, market conditions, and borrower profiles.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and recommend appropriate credit structures to optimize loan performance and minimize potential losses.
- Render credit decisions based on thorough analysis and in accordance with established underwriting guidelines.
- Present recommendations to senior management or credit committees, providing clear justifications for approval or denial of loan applications.
- Collaborate with sales and relationship management teams to facilitate seamless loan processing and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance underwriting processes to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and uphold service excellence.
- Implement best practices and leverage technology solutions to automate routine tasks and enhance decision-making capabilities.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior underwriters, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to promote professional development and ensure adherence to underwriting standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., MBA, CFA, or similar) preferred.
- Proven experience in commercial lending or business loan underwriting within the financial services industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior or managerial role.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and risk assessment techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of credit policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices pertaining to business lending.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex financial information and influence decision-making processes.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance risk and reward considerations while supporting business growth objectives.
- Proficiency in using underwriting software systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant analytical tools.
