Job Title: VMware to Hypervisor Migration Engineer Experience: 5+ years Location: Chennai Roles and Responsibilities: Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced VMware to Hypervisor Migration Engineer to lead and support the migration of virtual workloads from VMware environments to alternative hypervisors (e.g., KVM, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, or other open-source solutions).

The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in VMware infrastructure, solid understanding of multiple hypervisor platforms, and proven experience in planning and executing virtualization migration projects.

Key Responsibilities: Assess existing VMware infrastructure and virtual machine inventory.

Design migration strategies and architecture based on business needs and technical requirements.

Perform proof of concepts (Po Cs) for alternate hypervisors (KVM, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, etc.).

Lead the end-to-end migration of workloads from VMware to target hypervisor platforms.

Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity throughout the migration process.

Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to ensure seamless integration.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising during and after migration.

Document the entire migration process, configurations, and changes.

Provide knowledge transfer and training to internal IT teams post-migration.

Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong experience with VMware v Sphere, ESXi, v Center.

Deep understanding of alternate hypervisors such as KVM, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, or Proxmox.

Hands-on experience in virtual machine conversion tools (e.g., VMware Converter, Star Wind V2 V, virt-v2v).

Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.

Familiarity with networking, storage systems, and cloud integrations.

Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Experience with automation/scripting (Power CLI, Ansible, Bash, or Python) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent certifications.

Experience working in regulated or enterprise IT environments.

Familiarity with containerization and hybrid infrastructure is a bonus.
