Role: Senior Java Engineer – Legacy Modernization (C++ → Java Microservices)
Location: Bangalore (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Contract to Hire

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Java Engineer to join our technology modernization program. This is not a generic Java Developer role — you will be responsible for converting legacy C++ monolithic applications into modern Java-based microservices, containerizing them, and deploying in hybrid environments.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and break down complex legacy C++ applications into migration-ready components.
  • Design & develop scalable, maintainable, and performant Java microservices (Spring Boot, REST APIs).
  • Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes.
  • Deploy applications to Azure Cloud as well as on-premises environments.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Architects, BAs, DevOps) for end-to-end modernization.
  • Optimize performance, ensure security, and document migration processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Java enterprise application development.
  • Strong experience converting legacy C++ applications into Java-based microservices.
  • Hands-on with Spring Boot, Hibernate/Spring Data, REST APIs.
  • Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud deployment (Azure preferred).
  • Familiar with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Prior experience in financial services or commercial lending domain is desirable.
