Job Description:
Battlebucks is seeking an experienced Platform Lead for our Native Android version to oversee the development and maintenance of our cutting-edge gaming platform. The ideal candidate will manage the Android application, ensure seamless integration with games built in Unity and HTML, and collaborate closely with our game development team. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to drive the continuous enhancement of our platform. This will be an IC role to begin with, and will slowly shape into a management role, as the team grows.
Responsibilities:
Lead the Development and Maintenance of the Android Platform:
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of the Battlebucks Android app, from initial concept to release and maintenance.
• Develop, test, and deploy new features and updates that enhance the user experience and platform functionality.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure the application meets high standards of quality, performance, and security.
• Regularly monitor and optimize the app to ensure its stability and responsiveness.
Collaborate with the Game Development Team:
• Work closely with Unity and HTML game developers to integrate new games and features seamlessly into the Android app.
• Coordinate with designers to ensure the user interface is intuitive and engaging.
• Partner with product managers to prioritize development tasks and align on project goals and deliverables.
• Facilitate communication between the Android team and other departments to ensure cohesive product development.
Drive Innovation and Feature Enhancements:
• Analyze user feedback and data to identify opportunities for improving the user experience.
• Develop and implement new features that enhance the app’s functionality and user engagement.
• Stay updated with the latest Android development trends and technologies to keep the platform at the forefront of the industry.
• Experiment with new technologies and techniques to continually improve the app’s performance and capabilities.
Ensure Compliance and Best Practices:
• Ensure the Android app adheres to Google Play Store guidelines and best practices.
• Implement and maintain coding standards, version control, and documentation practices.
• Ensure the app complies with security and privacy regulations.
• Perform regular audits to ensure the app is secure and free from vulnerabilities.
Lead and Mentor the Android Development Team:
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the team.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Requirements
Technical Expertise:
• Proven experience in Android development using Kotlin and Java.
• Strong knowledge of the Android SDK, Android Studio, and Google development tools.
• Experience with integrating Unity and HTML games into native Android applications.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, third-party libraries, and SDKs.
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques and tools.
• Understanding of mobile security best practices.
Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in Android development, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior developer role.
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining complex, high-traffic Android applications.
• Experience in managing the entire app lifecycle, including deployment and post-release maintenance.
• Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the gaming industry or with gaming platforms.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Familiarity with Google Play Store submission and review process.
• Experience with analytics tools and data-driven decision-making.
• Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in mobile gaming.
