Calix is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our high-performing Engineering Tools and Services team. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of experience, including in-depth knowledge of Atlassian tool suite administration and modern DevOps processes. Responsibilities include upgrading the Atlassian tools suite, migrating them to a data center high-availability architecture, and consistently keeping them up to date with latest security patches. In addition, Ideal Candidate is an expert on GUI side administration of these tools as well. This role requires providing technical support to junior team members. The successful candidate will be a team player with a passion for learning, automating, and teaching in a highly collaborative environment. Your work will improve productivity and engineering efficiency across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and enhance Atlassian tools while writing scripts using REST endpoints to automate workflows and processes using webhooks.
  • Collect requirements and communicate with stake holders, understand best Industry practices, investigate potential solutions, analyze impacts, test, and implement solutions.
  • Document process workflows, FAQs, technical documentations and provide training to different stake holders.
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide support for tools processes, permissions, and configuration issues, work with vendors and their support teams when necessary.
  • Create and edit Jira workflows, fields, screens, and different configuration schemes.
  • Maintain and upgrade self-hosted Atlassian tools, databases, and experience with HA architecture.
  • Mentor and train junior Engineers of the team, clear roadblocks by making technical and design decisions.
  • Perform code reviews created by other members of the team.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • B.S. in Computer Science.
  • Strong technical skill in C/C++ or Java, Python, Php, Bash.
  • Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL.
  • Strong Linux and GIT skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of writing webhooks using REST endpoints for Atlassian tools.
  • Experience with load balancing HW/SW in a data center architecture.
  • Experience in setting up and supporting HA data center architecture for tools such as Bamboo and Bitbucket.
  • Strong technical knowledge of administering Jira Cloud. (fields, screens, workflows, configurations schemas, etc.)
  • Experience in administrating Bamboo and bitbucket as a GUI administrator.
  • Experience administering JSM for Asset Management, Incident Management, Integration with OpsGenie, and Change Management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and highly collaborative environment.
  • JQL and SQL query knowledge and experience.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with alerting and monitoring tools.
  • Experience with work related to optimization of build scripts for embedded systems.
  • Experience with Release Engineering, branching and versioning of products.
  • Containerizing and Orchestration: Compose, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Networking Concepts: Firewalls, NAT, load-balancing.
