We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Packaging Engineer to design, develop, and improve packaging solutions that ensure product protection, cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and visual appeal. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with product development, marketing, quality, procurement, and manufacturing teams to deliver innovative packaging that aligns with brand and business goals.
This role involves the use of engineering principles, materials science, and design thinking to meet performance, compliance, and customer expectations.
- Design and develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for new and existing products, considering protection, efficiency, and aesthetics.
- Evaluate and select suitable packaging materials (plastics, paperboard, glass, metal, etc.) based on performance, cost, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
- Create prototypes and conduct performance testing (e.g., drop test, compression, vibration, shelf life, and barrier properties).
- Implement sustainable packaging strategies, including lightweighting, recyclability, compostability, and reduced carbon footprint.
- Work with marketing, operations, quality assurance, regulatory, and suppliers to align packaging design with business and regulatory needs.
- Ensure all packaging designs comply with industry regulations and safety standards (e.g., FDA, ISO, ASTM, REACH, RoHS).
- Analyze packaging costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product integrity or brand image.
- Liaise with packaging suppliers for tooling, development timelines, quality issues, and production ramp-up.
- Maintain detailed records of packaging specifications, drawings, testing protocols, and material certifications.
