Sr. Statistician

Job Role: Sr. Statistician / Senior Data Scientist - Python & SQL Experience: 5-7 years Domain: R&D Analytics/Cosmetics/FMCG (preferred but not mandatory) Location: Mumbai (Hybrid) Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Statistician/Senior Data Scientist with strong hands-on experience in Python, solid statistical knowledge, and the ability to independently handle end-to-end EDA for R&D projects. The role involves working with various types of datasets and delivering insights through clean analysis, visualizations, predictive modeling, and presentation-ready summaries. This is a Mid-senior role where the person is expected to take ownership, work independently, and ensure high-quality, client-ready output. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end statistical analysis: data cleaning --> EDA --> statistical tests --> insights --> reports/slides. Perform in-depth statistical EDA including correlations, distribution checks, variable transformations, group comparisons, non-parametric tests etc. Build clear visualizations (boxplots, violin plots, heatmaps, scatterplots, KDE, etc.) using Python. Conduct advanced statistical tests: ANOVA, Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, t-test, correlation, regression, etc. Build and evaluate predictive models using Python (scikit-learn) and support model testing within existing pipelines. Create presentation-ready summary slides that are easy to understand for non-technical stakeholders. Execute SQL queries to extract, filter, and aggregate data (basic-intermediate). Maintain structured documentation of analysis, assumptions, decisions, and results. Ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely delivery with minimal supervision. Required Skills 5-7 years of hands-on experience in statistical data analysis. Strong understanding of statistics: distributions, hypothesis testing, regression, non-parametric methods, DoE is a plus. Proficient in Python: pandas, numpy, scipy, matplotlib, seaborn. Good knowledge of SQL (SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, filtering). Experience in predictive modeling using scikit-learn (classification and/or regression models). Ability to translate complex statistical outputs into simple, meaningful insights. Strong attention to detail, structured thinking, and clear communication. Ability to work independently in long-term research-oriented projects. Preferred Skills (Nice-to-have) Experience with cosmetic, FMCG, pharmaceutical, or scientific datasets. Experience with scikit-learn (for basic ML models). Experience working with large datasets and multiple variable groups. Understanding of sensory, instrumental or formulation data (big plus). Education Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative field.
