Position: Engineering Manager - Frontend (App/Player), Digital Business (Android Specialist) for our OTT platform

Purpose:

  • The incumbent will provide technology leadership on medium to large scale products/platform with internal and direct customer impact.
  • Ensure implementation of product engineering best practices in his/her product/ platform teams. Incumbent will also be responsible for technical architecture of product/platform working closely with cross-functional teams within Sony LIV and partner with key stakeholders.

Education: B.Tech / MTech / MCA

Experience: 10+ years

Location: Delhi NCR / Bengaluru

Reporting Relationship: AVP - Technical Architect, Digital Business Business/Channel/Function: Digital


Key Responsibilities:

  • Building individual features and products, bring in best practices and patterns that can be used for engineering lifecycle for Android discipline
  • Take ownership of end-to-end product quality
  • Developing & maintaining core app frameworks that help make the apps more reliable and delightful
  • Create prototypes of new ideas
  • Explore new technologies on the forefront of mobile & technology
  • Reducing the Crashes, ANR and providing stable experience across the platform
  • New ideas and features exploration which can help Sony LIV to grow as a business Critical Competencies:

Inquisitive and analytical mind; out-of-the-box thinking; bring a creative perspective to business problems applying functional expertise, business understanding and common sense. • Technical: Sound understanding of Android Architecture, Framework, Android SDK, Core Java, Kotlin, Android Studio IDE, Android Debugger
  • Should have excellent programming/coding and logical skills.
  • Experience with OTT tech stack is good to have.
  • Hands-on experience in building mobile/TV applications and creating solutions - native applications
  • Should be able to do technical and architecture planning for the development with various stack holders and vendors.
  • Expert in UI components & controls; Action Bars, Widgets, Fragments, Leanback, Animations and Material design.
  • Expert in basic components of Android: Activity, Services, Intent, Broadcast Receiver, Content Provider
  • Good working experience on Web Service Integration (REST, JSON, XML) & cloud technologies - AWS, GAE, GCM
  • Sound working experience with ExoPlayer, IMA SDK, SSAI & DAI. Experience in using analytics, location and social APIs, MDM, payment gateway, SMS gateway, media content transcoding and cloud integration, APM tools
